Love this pub. Just down the road from where I was born so know it well. Really friendly and great to sit outside with the dogs. They also do excellent cobs.

First visit to this pub, lovely. The Guinness was great, the bar man friendly and a great setting. Definitely be going back soon.

Myself wife and son stayed in Ticknall at the National Trust cottage at Calke Abbey entrance gate for a week. We visited the Chequers Inn many times during the week as it was only a few minutes away. The landlord and staff were very friendly and welcoming every time and they were very dog friendly as well. Well worth a visit.

Great pub. Never fails to make me smile when we visit. Tony keeps a tight ship and the beer is always served in good condition. Definitely recommend

No fuss,no gimmicks, just decent beer and a good sandwich if That's all you need. Oh... Great atmosphere, its like a pub for those that remember what a pub was.

We called in here on our way back from nearby Calke Abbey in search of food and drink. Although they didn't serve hot food the owner 'Tony' engaged with us in the yard and was very friendly ensuring us that they could serve us up a nice Ploughmans and a chicken salad or a sandwich etc. We had a couple of drinks and very much enjoyed our food. Its a friendly little pub, they do allow dogs. Can't fault other than it not doing hot food.

Cosy country pub with a fantastic landlord Tony, who keeps a great pint.
