Ate dinner outside and had a drink. Food was brilliant and good portions (buttermilk chicken burger).

Pub and garden are extremely dog and child friendly. There's a secure field area at the back so well behaved dogs can be off lead, footballs and a couple of goals, big climbing frame thing for kids, dog water bowls at every table. It's a beautiful and well maintained garden to sit in.

Excellent and friendly service from all the staff we encountered, which was at least 5 people. I look forward to going again.

The Bower House is ideally located for exploring Eskdale - and the views are stunning! Our room was great, the staff were amazing, the beer garden was a beautiful spot to enjoy drinks and a meal, and overall, we loved the ambiance of the place. Would definitely recommend and would stay again. If we were to suggest anything that needs improving, it would be the coffee. Considering how fantastic the food was - both breakfast and evening meals - the coffee was the among the worst wee have ever tasted. A minor point - and you can get a really decent one at The Saw Mill café not far away - but if it’s an important part of your morning routine, you should be warned! Other than that, we loved everything.

Lovely rural pub with good rooms for the price we paid, including breakfast that was cooked to order. Room 2 had a noisy sink at night hence losing 1 star, but overall I wouldnt complain.
The pub food was good, with prices to be expected. Drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were all really kind. We listened to some local people playing music and singing which made for a great atmosphere.
Would stay again!

Stopped here for an evening meal whilst camping locally, and despite not having booked a table they were very welcoming and let us take a table outside. This was in our favour as the views were stunning and there is a playpark which our 3 year old loved. Despite being busy inside, the food arrived promptly and was delicious. We will definitely be returning when in the area again.

First time for me but not for our son who is a regular visitor and who has stayed the night .It was my birthday treat for Sunday roast beef dinner which was excellent in every respect. Only disappointed when we were all full and could not eat anymore and missed out on the delicious deserts on offer ! This renowned Inn is the perfect place to stay being dog friendly and the outdoor safe area is brilliant for children.

Had dinner here it was fantastic, nice pub with a friendly atmosphere. I had steak which was very good and the peppercorn sauce was the best I've ever had. My wife had steak and ale pie which she said was the best she has ever had, and coming from a northern lass who likes her pies is high praise.

Staff were warm and welcoming. Our room was warm and the bed comfortable. Food was very good, the pies were especially delicious. The hotel is in a great location for hill walking. There is a drying room for boots and wet gear if needed. A lovely relaxed atmosphere, I would highly recommend.
