Janis is an absolutely amazing lady. She never stops caring for our beautiful endangered hedgehogs.

If Janis seems abrupt, please put yourself in her shoes. She's so overwhelmed and stressed as her rescue has only room for so many and she just wants to help every hedgehog that's in need of help.

What Janis needs is a hug and a holiday but instead she works tirelessly trying to save all rescues handed in.

What with Autumn Late Litters, rampant Roundworm, Injuries from Roads, Bonfires and Fireworks, the traffic of hedgehogs being handed in far outweighs those being well enough and big enough to be released. Some can't be released.

Remember to please be understanding, respectful and kind. You've absolutely no idea how hard it is to run a rescue on so little funds, food, bedding and medication.

I've taken several Hedgehogs to this rescue, often at very short notice. They need our help, volunteering to help or fundraising or donations, even if just a £1, not criticism and impatience.

Be nice, be respectful and be understanding.

We brought a Hedgehog to this charity a few weeks ago. It was in a bad way when we found it out walking our dogs. The lady, Janis was extremely helpful on the phone and we were asked to bring it to her as soon as possible. Upon arrival we were amazed at the charity's facilities. Clearly much care and attention is taken with every admittance. Janis started work on the Hedgehog straight away. We was later on told that the hedgehog was extremely ill but has now made a full recovery several weeks later and has successfully been released back into the wild. Thank you Janis for your hard work and service to wildlife. A £100 donation has been sent over to you from us. I hope it'll help save many more Hogs.

I had found three baby Hedgehogs a little while ago and didn't know what to do with them. I think the nest had been disturbed when we was clearing out some rubbish in our garden. I found Lancashire Hedgehog Care via the internet and quickly called them for some advice. A lady answered the phone and quickly came and picked them up. We was told to keep an eye out for anymore and to contact the charity if anymore were spotted. Two girls and one boy rescued so we got to pick their names. They are now in the very caring and knowledgeable hands of Janis, the charity's manager. Keeping our fingers crossed for their survival 🤞

Would highly recommend this charity. Nearly 40 years of continuous work with Hedgehogs is amazing. You deserve a medal.

I have taken a number of hedgehogs in need to Lancashire Hedgehog Care Trust. Each one has been taken in and given the best of care, even when some of them required a very lengthy stay. All but one tiny one made a full recovery and were able to be returned for release. Caring for these precious endangered creatures requires much dedication and I am very grateful to have this organisation available in the area.

Janis has helped us many times with small and poorly hedgehogs. She is very caring, helpful and knowledgeable. Thabk you so much for all good work you do saving these wonderful animals. X

Janis goes above and beyond to help hedgehogs that would otherwise die of injuries, illness, parasites, malnutrition, dehydration and more. She always does her best to save every one of them and gives them the best of care. They face so many problems in the wild, thank goodness they can get help here.

I have always found Janis to be very helpful and happy to give useful advice. She is caring and dedicated to looking after the hogs She does a great job for the community
