Absolutely shocking service from Branch, utterly poor customer service we have banked with First Direct for over 12 years and have never had any issues. This is my first time having to go into branch to post a cheque and the attitude from staff as I arrived at the door as it was closing as 13:54 not 2:00 was being spoken to through the glass by a lady who stood there rolled her eyes pointed to the sign and simply said 'closed'. Total let Down by this HSBC branch, staff need better training in how to deal with customers.

I now only use this branch if I am desperate! My gripe with HSBC Burnley is pre-Covid. I have been a commercial customer with HSBC for 10 years and always found them helpful with their counter service. On one occasion, the counter marked as business customers only was unattended but not closed. So I waited 10 minutes while staff were around until the woman behind the glass at the other position said the business counter was closed and I'd have to join the queue for her. This was, by this point, reaching towards the door. Reluctantly, I joined the queue and waited and waited, getting nowhere after around 15 minutes. I then addressed a staff member at the podium and demanded to see the manager, totally appalled with the lack of customer service. I was told to wait in in the area marked as "HSBC Premier", where I could have helped myself to a pod coffee if I wanted to. Over half an hour later, the manager eventually showed up, invited me to the private area and asked what my problem was. Like she didn't know?? The problem was the business counter was closed for no apparent reason (when staff were around that could have opened it). That there was not one apology by staff for me wasting an hour in there. That HSBC now see if fit to remove all their counters from branches to make them "digital only". I am a business that needs cash/change. To only be told by the manager that there's nothing she can do and I should instead go to the Post Office for my change! IF I WANTED TO BANK WITH THE POST OFFICE, I WOULD HAVE OPENED AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM 10 YEARS AGO!!! I still bank with HSBC. I received an apology in writing from their customer service team at head office. There is still a programme of branch closures and counter replacements, so nothing is going to get better. I, for now, travel to the HSBC branch at Clitheroe (an extra 9 miles) where they still have a counter with friendly staff - mostly older that have been relocated there, and who have a better customer service ethic than the younger ones pratting about with an iPad at Burnley. I just fear that the Clitheroe branch doesn't have long left as the town has already lost its Santander and Yorkshire Banks and the Barclays is due to close in September '22.

removed their counter so we can't get change, open for 3 hours a week and their overnight paying in machine is broken so now I'm having to waste my afternoon travelling 10 miles to another branch. HSBC is discriminating against real people who want a human interaction. This bank is dead don't waste your time. I'm moving to a bank that values its customers not push them out incrementally. Your hubris will catch up to you.

This branch is never open! I have travelled a 15 mile round trip 3 times since the middle of December to access counter services and every time it is shut! Today I checked the times on Google, updated by the bank themselves, before making my journey. According to Google they are open until 4.30pm all week, but when I got there (before 4pm) there was a sign on the door saying they close at 2pm all week. Extremely shoddy service - stop using Covid as an excuse for not being open!

Absolutely ridiculous that a town the size of Burnley has a HSBC branch that is now only open Mondays 9.30 until 4.30!!

What about normal working folk, business banking etc? It's bad enough they closed the counter down so you can only put money and cheques into the machines.

Restrictions lifted weeks ago yet this bank still operates Monday-Friday closing at 4 pm daily without an outside ATM to deposit money, good luck trying to put money in your account if you’ve got a day job like the vast majority of us.

EDIT: they’ve changed the opening times, it’s 10-2 mon-fri, even worse

Never open. Always a reason stuck on the door why they've had to close. Wasted so many journeys into town to find them closed. Next nearest branch is 10 miles away. Given up, transferring everything over to a more reliable bank

Annoying as travelled over to this branch to pay money in. Says on Google open until 430pm. Get here and the branch is closed. Should have read the reviews first. Only open until 2pm. You need to update your opening hours to prevent wasted journeys. Really annoying
