Worst experience I ever had in a Lloyds branch! Lost my debit card a couple of days ago, requested a new one online and after I made my way to the branch to widraw money. Had all the necessary ID and information, the lady behind the counter said I could only take out £50. I asked why as I had a lot more than that of available balance, to what she replied with a very superior tone " this is the U.K and these are the rules". I just handed that lady my passport and even tough I wasn't born in the U.K, it's now the place I call home so I'm very aware of the rules and regulations ... Racism??? In my opinion yes!!!
I told her that it wasn't the first time I had to widraw money directly from the counter and that nobody informed that £50 was the limit to what she proceeded to say "it's the U.K banks rules & regulations" ( adding the word bank after noticing how upset I was when she used the first sentence).
I told her that in that case I want to cancel my account and widraw all my available balance to what she replied " it's up to you".
Reluctantly she gave me the amount I requested ( despiste of her imaginary U.K rules & regulations), I said I wanted to make a complaint about the way she's handling me, she told me "you can see the manager" and didn't look slightly worried that I was.
The manager on the other hand was very apologetic, told me that as I had a valid for of ID and that I could perfectly widraw the amount I requested.
She also assured he was going to have a conversation with her, but still I left bank with no intention to comeback. I'd advise you to do the same!!!

Terrible experience 😠
The man who work there most of weekends is very nice and welcoming.
But the lady who just was there today 18/11/2017 was terrible. Most of weekends when I am going there she was never nice or polite.
I think it would be good to replace her by somebody else who doesn't mind to work weekends.
Also sometimes the waiting it's about 15-20minutes.
Please make some changes !

Very unpleasant experience here. Second time in a week. Same bank two different branches in the area. Cashier at Tooting said Tenancy agreement is not a valid proof of address inspite of it being explicitly mentioned in bank a/c opening email. Don't pay bills as it's included in the rent and don't possess a driver's licence either so no other proof of address apart from bank account statements with old address.

Opened a new account online with old address proof. Came here and was made to wait for 20 mins to verify documents. Finally, lady cashier came out with Bank manager and said can't accept bank statements as they're on two pages. Started asking me interrogative questions and asking why I'd come to the Balham branch when address proof was of Camden.

Mentioned that I did try opening a new account with tenancy agreement but was refused at Tooting. Manager said "who told you that" which clearly suggests that someone has given me the wrong information. Got fobbed off in the end

This whole ordeal lasted 20 mins. Extremely frustrating and not to mention time consuming and the icing on the cake was the lady cashiers extremely patronising, disdainful and dismissive behaviour. Felt like I was dealing with a petulant school teacher.

Was keen on opening up a new bank account with Lloyds but after this experience. No, thank you !. I'd gladly open one up with a competitor minus the hassle of getting treated like i'm doing them a favour. Avoid !

Treated my friend Mario Pereira terribly.See comment below. Asking my friends question about immigration and how long he has lived in UK.Why are these questions asked when documents are produced for residency?
Clearly a case of racial profiling.Judged the man and gave him the roundabout making him hop from one branch to another based on his color and appearance.I doubt they would do this if someone was wearing a suit and walked in those doors. This is how Lloyds Bank is treating regular hard-working everyday people of UK.Shameful!
Closing all my accounts with this bank and passing this info to my family members and friends to do the same.

Forgot to leave a review, staff here are rude and unhelpful and will only help you with your account if it suits them. Complaint raised with head office and they agreed regarding that staff in branch are there to help with your account, and cannot refuse to do something just because they feel it's a waste of there tim . Better off going to streatham branch down the road more helpful and friendly.

I don’t know why I bother with Lloyd’s or the clearing banks. The staff are unionised and won’t put themselves out. Easier for computer to say no and not come into work, blaming COVID19. Preferring to collect their large salaries at shareholders’ expense.

Unfortunately this branch only has an external cashpoint and I was conned by a couple of lowlife, losing a significant amount of money. The staff could not have been more helpful promptly organising access to a helpline .my money was quickly reimbursed and new card organised and needles to say my current card taken by the thieves was blocked. Thankyou Lloyds bank staff at Balham.
