After waiting a long time in Que, I have been told they can't take this transaction; though it says at the back any Bank will take it.
I am asked to go to the Post Office, which is strange. Unhelpful and irrespective service. I went to HSBC near by and they took my transaction and money. It just shows , though I have a Bank account with santander, is it worth it?
The transaction appeared to go through normally, except that after the message that cash was being counted etc appeared, no cash was dispensed - THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT FUNDS WERE NOT AVAILABLE IN THE A/C (IN FACT THEY WERE) NOR ANY WARNING THE MACHINE WAS OUT OF CASH. When I checked the balance, the money was shown as debited....
I had to phone and get the balance re-credited next day, taking an hour off work. This meant making the time or losing pay as I am paid by the hour. No compensation offered by Santander.
For the record, the machine I used was the one on the right hand side facing the bank.
When my account details were hacked, I was contacted by Santander fraud department and an appointment was made for me to come into the bank to cancel my account and have a new one set up.
When I arrived at the bank, not only did they have no record of my appointment, they claimed to have no appointments for 4 weeks. They told me that all they could do was to cancel my bank account not make a new one in that time. When I asked how long I'd have to wait to cancel, the line attendant simply shrugged and told me that the woman I'd speak to was about to take her lunch.
Infuriated, I went across the square to the bank opposite who set up an account for me in 30 MINUTES! Complete with card and savings account to boot. Why Santander couldn't set me up an account that day and why I'd have to make an appointment for 4 weeks I have no clue.
Needless to say I will not be banking with Santander in the future, and neither should you. Their customer service has truly gone down the drain in reccent years and I've had my account with them since Alliance and Leister.
