Very disappointed!

I have opened an account on 31st of January and on 1st February they closed my account without any explanation.

I will start with the start :
In February, 2016 my mother passed away and I had to go back in my country. At that time I had an account at HSBC. Because I couldn’t think in that moment at anything else because once I received the call with the bad news I took a flight ticket for the next day withdraw the money I had in my account and this is all I remember to do. When I came back in UK after one and a half month my account was closed because I left it with -£4 and got a penalty of £80 and my payment from my mobile bill had to be paid as well. I went to my bank to see what happens and I paid all the debt and they never opened me my account again.

When I went to Natwest to open a basic account ( no overdraft no nothing special) I let them know about this because I didn’t had any reason to hide something from my financial history. Problems and tragedies happen !!
They said is ok. And they opened me a bank account straight away .
But next day account was closed like I was a criminal a fraud or whatever without any explanations.
I give 1* for Natwest and 5* for Anita W. , the lady that helped me open an account which made me feel respected and welcome compared with most bank staff all around. Thank you, Anita! Shame on you, Natwest!!
1*+5*/2 = 3* ( ONLY ANITA’S MERITS)

I went this morning on 20-03-2018. Just to submit a cheque from my office before coming to work. The staff was not ready for work at all. The women left the chair and went inside after serving 1 customer she opened the door look at the que than again closed the door may be her First tea break at the start of the shift. Just to mention my office has good business with this bank even a manager spend 1 day each week at our office.
I had to wait way to long for a job of 30sec.

Today I visited this branch, I wanted to set up online banking, but the man who attended to me was only interested in getting me another appointment to get a credit. At the end, he did set up the online banking, but incorrectly. He hurried me out of the room, leaving my card in his office, yet the purpose of driving 2 miles to the branch became useless. This is my worst ever experience in this branch.

Customer reaching counter assisted access over 30 minutes waiting time and same I had to. Parked 30 minutes free parking session first then have to pay £1.50 for another hour just to deposit cash for business banking. 4 to 5 staff other than that would be wandering around but one person on counter. Don’t care about customers. Serious management issues in this branch.

No stars if that was an option. Tried to open a bank account as a 17 year old, started the initial process online, went to the branch to hand in ID waited in the rain for over an hour and told will be seen soon every 10 minutes! The lady didn't tell me to sign the back of the form so got a call to come back another day, waited another 1 hour outside the branch. Was told will hear back within 5 days. Waited two weeks to be told by head office no paperwork was filed and apply online again. As a result my offer for part time work was retracted as I didn't have a bank account to get paid. The staff are rude, disorganised and never open the bank on time. I feel sorry for all the older people that have to wait outside in the cold and deal with the rude staff. I'm not going to bank with Natwest.

Went into the branch at Chadwell Heath on 31st August at 10.30am. Asked to pay £80 into my wife's account. Told no, by the girl at till as I didn't have a card. Helpfully in a sarcastic way, told me to go to my own bank and transfer it. Not a smile, empathy or anything. Very surly, needs a course in customer service. The jobcentre to claim UC awaits this one.

Only bank left in Chadwell Heath and staff are always friendly and helpful. Can be busy at times.

visited today 27/8/21 - waited in line to see the cashier, I get to the till, put a decent amount of cash in front of her to pay in, she said can you pay into the machine, I said I don't want to, she insists that I do, she ask why not i said i don't want to, I then said no problem give me the money back and I will go and pay into another account. I said as its a large sum of money I want to do it at the cashiers till, she said you can do it in three goes at the cash point - I said exactly ! I will have to do it three times at the cash till and once with you - doesn't make sense! she then pays it in my bank account. Stop arguing... others are waiting in the queue, absolutely useless and lazy!
