I visited Halifax in Welwyn Garden City recently to enquire about the accounts they offered: the sales floor was deserted and, the two guys behind the counter were less than versed in how to treat potential customers in a professional manner.

Sometimes I go to in Halifax

The only place that helped me. I'm British, but no longer a UK resident.
This branch changed three old 10 pound notes for new ones for me. Extremely helpful.
Lloyds Bank wouldn't because I didn't have an account with them.
Natwest - same thing. Two Post Offices just refused to change them. Absolutely no flexibility. I've subsequently learned, they can do this, but don't have to.

I tried to open an account for my daughter and arrived armed with ID etc. I was told that no one was available to assist and to go online to open it! When we did this we were then told to go the brand with ID......!
I am not very impressed.

I called on Monday 24th February with a rather complicated urgent problem which I could not see a way of solving. I received excellent advice from Matt Harris Assistant maager who tallked it through with me and came up with a solution which solved the problem. Very grateful . Very pleasant and helpful young man and also helpful pleasant counter staff.Highly recommended.

So it’s Saturday- I work full time. Have cycled into Welwyn to open an account and sort POA they are shut on a Saturday. Only open Monday- Friday till 3. Rubbish customer service.

That’s me out then. Don’t you want people who work as customers?

Needed to put in a check on a Saturday as I work full time, thinking that they would be open until 1... nope they are open 9-3 Monday to Friday! How am I meant to use a bank when I work full time?
