The men in the store were very helpful. They made 1 bike up for us during the day so we could take both home as we had travelled up from Orpington, Kent.
They also fitted a phone holder for me. We have a dog and had to fit a bike buddy. They was very helpful and supplied me with 3 nuts I had lost so we could fit it. They was great fun and it made our day.
I would highly recommend this shop and the bikes are great. We enjoyed our first bike ride and so did the dog.
The management will put profit over service so please heed my advice.
Pure scooters are great, but they are very susceptible to punctures. Not just from thorns or nails but just from the asphalt on a path (as admitted by the store manager).
They are difficult to change so the temptations will be to take it back to the store to fix.
Our first puncture we repaired ourselves. It was difficult. It lasted a week. So we assumed we had made a mistake.
So for our second puncture we went to the store. It cost us £50 for fitting, not including the inner tube!
That lasted about a month
Our third puncture we managed to get a discounted rate of £35 for fitting plus slime to add some strength (Not including the inner tube).
We followed all the instructions. Keeping it well inflated and, of course, no hitting kerbs etc (not that we were anyway).
It lasted a week. We got a fourth puncture. Always the same tyre. You can see a photo below.
We tried reasoning with Pure. They kindly sent out a new inner tube and new tyre for free...but the store manager at Norwich refused to offer manager's discretion, saying he had to pay for his staff's time. (there were three of them in the store, standing around, doing nothing while I was in their for 15 minutes, so clearly very valuable commodity)
We have fixed it ourselves again.
What choice did we have?
The manager has left a very sour taste in my mouth and damaged the reputation of the company. It would have cost him nothing other than 25 minutes of one of his staff member's time...but he clearly feels that that is the way to run a business. Shame.
Luckily he has his 17 years of bike maintenance to fall back on when his lack of retail experience come back to haunt him
So... please take my advice. Either buy a scooter with puncture-proof tyres or if you do decide to splash out £400 on a Pure scooter get the tools in and be prepared to get dirty replacing the tyres every few weeks.
