Mark, the owner, has a huge amount of time for anyone who comes in with a problem. He's happy to talk through it and you never feel like he's trying to sell you something you don't need. There is also a stunning range of refurbished classic bikes in the shop. Can't recommend enough!

Please do not be fooled by this shop. We have had a terrible experience here after taking a vintage bike in to be refurbished. His workmanship is shoddy and we have to take it else where to fix the problems. The owner became aggressive towards us in the end. There are much better bike shops around Cambridge. This one certainly isn't reliable.

Easily my favorite bike shop in Cambridge... Mark is professional, friendly, and does great bike work at a fair price. He also gives great bike route suggestions! Highly recommended!!

I lived in Cambridge England from 2014-2017. I wanted to get a memento that reminded me of my time there. I decided that a custom bicycle would be the way to go. In the middle of 2015 I went to this bike shop and described that I wanted a bike that had the vintage feel but was in good working condition. Mark was helpful and courteous. We picked out a vision for the bike and he got to work. Or so I thought...two year later the bike wasn't complete and I had to move again. He hadn't completed the bike with a Raleigh badge as promised. Not a big deal I thought I just get him to ship it. Maybe he'll knock down the price a bit. Nope. Okay I thought. At this point I've been waiting 2+ years to ride this bike. I would literally stop in once a month to see if he made any progress throughout the whole process. Hindsight tells me he was being a bit dodgy and wish I just would have asked for my money back and called it a loss. So now I'm thinking okay at least I have a bike that's rideable....wrong. The tire stem blew on the first ride.....and it gets better. I replace the tire...just bad luck right. Nope....I get back on the bike and the derailleur on the back immediately loss tensions after about another mile of biking and I blew the chain up. So now I'm on my brand new bike two miles from home. I walk it back home and take it to a competent bike repairman. He point out that the rear derailleur cable was rubbing on the frame, the front brake was mounted incorrectly, the brake stacks were loose, and the rear derailleur was so unserviceable that I need a new one. Mind you I road the bike 2 miles....bottom line. Really nice guy but really terrible expertise in bike building and basic setup of a bike. Recommend you go somewhere else to get your bike fixed or make sure that you have a good health insurance supplemental plan.

I went in to ask about a bike for a friend who apparently had a disagreement with the owner (as a result of the owner's behaviour they didn't feel comfortable entering the shop). Despite being polite and civil when I went to ask about the bike I was yelled at by the owner in an intimidating manner and ordered to leave the shop. I am not sure what plant he lives on - it must be a flat one if he thinks that that is an appropriate way to talk to people. He was phenomenally rude and his behaviour towards me was completely unacceptable. I don't believe in supporting any establishment which is run by someone who behaves in such a hostile manner.

Friendly fellow. I bought a used mens bike for a reasonable price and Mark did everything possible to make sure I would be happy with it.

I bought a bike from another bike shop, and within two days the rear wheel twisted, which made my bike nearly unusable.

I brought my bike here, and the owner diagnosed my problem (the bike had been sold to me with a bent rear axle) and fixed it the same day for £35. I was happy with that price.

He also tightened my brakes and made it easier for me to switch gears. I found him friendly and willing to answer any question.

In the following weeks, I have had no more issues with my bike. I recommend this shop to anyone who needs a bike fixed.

I found my experience at flat planet very unpleasant. From the owners elitist attitude and his snide remarks, not too mention that he would not stop talking. Everything in the store is so over priced, i'm all for shopping local, but when local needs a second mortgage. NO THANK YOU. I'm all for passion, but the owners purist attitude is too much. All in all, if you hate money and like being talked down too, then flat planet is the place for you. 10/10 pretentious.
