Excellent, they only do MOT's so no chin-scratching and deep breaths before you're hit with a list of costly fixes. If you need a retest, well you go off and get the work done, easy and you don't feel trapped. The staff are very helpful on the phone and in person. Brilliant!

I always see black cabbies here so they must be on to something. As moneysavingexpert says council service centres aren't able to carry out repairs, only do the MOT test so there isn't any incentive to find faults with the car. It's about £60 which is about double the cost of garages near me, but probably closer to the real cost of the test.

I took my car to a Saab dealer for an MOT.
It failed and it was going to cost £400 to fix all issues in order to pass MOT. I booked my car into my King's Cross council MOT centre the next day and it passed (worth referring to money saving expert article on this).
In addition the staff were friendly and even offered a cup of tea while I waited.

I took my Car to Camden Council MOT services last week and it was failed because they claimed it had a tyre below the minimum legal tread depth of 1.6mm and a distorted wheel ( visible when spun). Having had over 30 years of experience with car MOTs, I would never have put the car in for test with an illegal tyre, so I had serious doubt.
A few days later I took the car to National Tyres for an MOT check, and apart from a defective wiper blade, the car was perfectly roadworthy. In fact, they measured the tread depth of the alleged illegal tyre, and found it to be 3mm.
I cannot fathom why Camden Council got this so wrong. They do not offer repairs, so to make incorrect claims had no benefit. However they charge the full MOT rate with no discount.

Good place to get your MOT done , no commercial pressure & no hustle. Good reception on the phone, email confirmation with helpful points of advice. Good reception when you get there, coffee & a choccy too!
Took approx an hour. Good advice from staff & tech on an advisory ( shock absorber! Boo to speed humps! ) will go again what a good service. Not to face my service garage.

Without having a vested interested in your car failing it's MOT, the King's Cross test centre is an honest place to get you vehicle tested, and more often than not cars pass. It's been closed to the public throughout the Covid pandemic, but when it reopens, I'd recommend it as the only place to get a car tested - it could save you £££
