A lovely walk round the little castle. A real sun trap. Had the place to ourselves, except for the heron, geese and pigeons

Another one of the English Heritage Castles being saved. Very small so perfect for a quick stop off. Not currently open but the grounds are a fishing lake so you can have a stroll around. Great setting and can imagine it looks great at Sunrise or sunset. We'll worth a 20 min visit, had it to myself too.

For a family that loves history, this was a delight. Great place for a relaxing picnic and the guy at the reception was so lovely! He spoke to the kids about the various birds and the collection of eggs they have on display and he also gave a whole overview of the history surrounding the castle. Will definitely be a regular spot to visit

The castle belong to the #englishheritage
If your going here you'll enjoy it
Not a large site so it doesn't take too long to explore but it's interesting

A nice little motted castle, never really completed. Spent about 30- min here another 30 min spent walking around the pond looking at the many birds. Free parking on site.

If like us you have lived nearby for the most part of your life, why not make a visit? We were surprised and amazed to learn how closely this little manor house 'castle' is connected to the royal history of England. The links to Richard III were a surprise. The remnants of this unfinished 'castle' are beguiling and you can take a lovely stroll around the moat. David, the guide, is a knowledge person and definitely brought the place to life with his shared stories of the past.

Great place for a visit, short walk around the moat and you can pay for a guided tour around the ruins if you want

Small but a short but fascinating history. Take about 90 mins out of your day if you’re in/around Leicester. There will be a guide giving you all the information you need and it’s very good.
