Cowboys!!!
Spoke to Craig about an issue with my car, only got 4k miles on the clock- I just wanted someone to check the car to see if it was safe - all I asked for was someone for 20 seconds to put their foot on the clutch pedal and tell me if there was an issue. The response..." Sorry, I don't have anyone that has 20 seconds to spare until the 5th January." So I called Drive Vauxhall in Nuneaton and they booked me in for this evening, despite being rammed as they "fully understand the position you are in and of course we can have a look for you - we cant guarantee we can fix it but we will have a look". That's all I asked. Will certainly never be giving Wilnecote my business.
WARNING USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
The recent dealings I have had with this company makes me believe that they are either fraudulent or have very incompetent mechanics.
I ordered a key for a Vauxhall which took weeks of me chasing up to get and finally it did arrive and I went to collect it and have it programmed.
Now is the part I deem to be fraud.
I waited about an hour while they were supposedly trying to programme the key when finally they came out and said and I quote ‘ There’s something wrong with the car because when we plug the equipment in to programme the key all the lights go off on the dash and we can’t programme the key, we’ve tried the equipment on another car and it’s fine. We’ll need to investigate it further’.
At which point I told them there’s nothing wrong with the car as I’d previously used my own diagnostic equipment to read a fault code which it connected fine and read the system and I’d fixed the problem that it had flagged up which unsurprisingly they looked a bit shocked when I stated that.
I didn’t leave the car with them and took the new key with me to get a second opinion from a very good mechanic I know. This mechanic programmed the new key in 5 minutes with his Snap On equipment with no connection problems whatsoever.
Yes nothing wrong with the car.
This leads me to believe that the dealership is either fraudulent and wanted the car to be left so they could make up problems and work so I would have been charged an extortionate amount for unneeded and fake work or the mechanics they have are very incompetent, I hope it’s the latter because at least retraining can be done.
I am reporting this incident to Vauxhall and Citroen and also to The Motor Ombudsman. I will also be leaving this review everywhere I can and tell everyone I know.
Sadly these are common incidents from what I hear with so many dealerships, so my advice is use a good independent mechanic not a so called dealership, also remember if you have a brand new car you don’t have to have it serviced at a dealership to uphold the warranty.
