Directed here by a competitor trader who was full: a good choice. Tucked away out of view of the Cathedral Green, this might not be the easiest find, or the one with the best view, yet it's certainly well worth seeking out. For starters, they know their coffee (Origin beans) and how to make it, with appropriate strengths per cup/option/size. Amazing portions with a limited yet stunning menu options. The "mixed ploughman's" is ginormous and would satisfy any hungry farmer, whilst the sourdough with avocado,fish 2 eggs and salmon was extremely good! Friendly service with attention to detail. Limited outdoor or indoor seating. Customer toilet.

Had breakfast here on 2 out of our 3 days in Exeter, really good value and service was excellent. Sadly, on our 3rd day when we wanted to have a cuppa and cake, we were told, by a member of staff that we hadn't seen in the previous days, we couldn't because it was lunchtime between 12 & 2. They close at 3 so not much time to enjoy a leisurely tea and cake. Shame, we'd been eyeing up the cakes on our breakfast visits but didn't get to sample them. Maybe next time.

Drinks order taken, but after 30 minutes waiting to have our order taken I went Up to the bar to chase up the staff.
Food very good, fish and chips, gammon and chips and a pork belly, good size portions.
Again, asked for mayonnaise and ketchup, but it was forgotten, do again I had to chase the staff.

Well…ideally place for a healthy meal with a friendly attitude and cozy atmosphere.
It’s definitely deserving my gratitude and appreciation for my first experience.
For sure I will be back for new memorable moments.

Great place for lunch. Good atmosphere but get in early for lunch as there are no bookings. Staff cheery and efficient.

This has to be the best breakfast I have ever had

Been using this family run cafe for many many years now after being recommended by a friend and just had to write this review. They closed for 2 weeks in early January and my goodness didn't we miss them, there is nowhere else in Exeter that we could get the home cooked meals they offer at their prices, and the staff are very friendly even at their busiest time. We have recommended Drakes to many friends & colleagues who to this day still frequent this outstanding place.

Good reasonable priced menu
Went back the next day and had a lovely English breakfast.
Another day and this time the all day brunch and a jacket potato. Lovely!
