My husband booked for our wedding anniversary:) he said this restaurant is one of the romantic restaurants!! I was so excited to visit. The restaurant decoration and feels we are in south France 🇫🇷 somewhere in village. Fantastic!! Also , onion soup !! It’s one of my favorite I felt I am in France. Really deep broth and good tasty 😋 also they have 2 or 3course set menus. Must try pork belly with apple sauce! Absolutely crispy and juicy great 👍 all the staff are very friendly and helpful. I think you may need to book for weekend or dinner just in case busy seat. We wanted to have dessert as well but it’s already full. So we will be back for the second meal and night! Two mains Two starter one beer for around £75 for two person. We had a lovely night!🎉

It was an absolute amazing dinner! We ordered a set menu of pork belly and apple crumble, and an additional main of steak and kidney pie. The crackling of the pork belly was great and the meat was super tender, the apple sauce went very well with it. The steak & kidney pie was so rich and flavourful. Last but not least, the apple crumble just wrapped up the whole dinner nicely. Definitely coming back to try other things on the menu!

Even though the waitress was patient, she wasn't friendly or welcoming at all. She didn't look happy and it felt like she didn't want to talk to serve us at all. The food itself was flavourful but unfortunately, the flavours that they incorporated just weren't for me. I was the one who chose those particular courses so I can't really blame them. Which is why I had trouble leaving a lower rating because the food itself was decent, but it was just not meant for me. I had the Duck Liver Pate, the Shepherd's pie and the Burnt cream. The appetizer and main course had too much aftertaste from the liver and the lamb for me to enjoy. But, I am sure a lot of people would enjoy those flavours that were overwhelming for me. The atmosphere is enjoyable, a bit too dark for my personal liking but it was relaxing and classy. The portions were pretty generous, it matched the prices that were a bit more expensive.

Beautiful decor and atmosphere. Friendly staff and lovely hostess. The Sunday roast was good, but not great.

I am giving full stars as this is truly an experience, and worth visiting. All 3 floors are beautifully decorated, and feel very cosy. We will definitely be back to try the regular menu as well.

We went for 2 Sunday roasts and mushroom soups to start. The soup was delicious, but the potatoes with the Sunday roast were really hard, like cardboard. Both lamb and sirloin were tasty, and they did serve it with a lot of gravy.

Overall a great experience, and definitely recommend!

Charming spot for delicious, homey British cuisine. The food was so flavorful. The soup of the day, a vegan mushroom soup was bursting with flavor. The steak and kidney pie had the most perfect, buttery crispy crust and was served with cabbage and carrots that were roasted to sweet perfection. The shepherd's pie was also super tasty. We finished with a sumptuous creme brûlée which I was happy to see was a smaller portion given the richness of the dish. I would absolutely return here.

What a lovely place! The people were so friendly and the food was excellent!

We found out this restaurant from the Infatuations magazine and it was perfect choice!

We ate three course meals and all the food was great! We had duck liver pate and cheese and leek tart! As a starter, the portions were quite big. Pate was very creamy and well-rounded with butter and the fresh bread! But tart was a bit salty for me.

Inside of pork belly was very chewy but smooth and the skin was crackling! Salmon was melted in the mouth!

Charming little restaurant with traditional British pub food in a relaxed country setting.

You’re surrounded by old wooden furniture, kitchen utensils and pots/pans - it borders on claustrophobic but I still very much enjoyed it.

We had the three course pre fixe menu and selected: cheese tart (very nice, crispy and tangy), the Stilton mousse (strong! But in a good way. Perfect balance with the provided bread), for mains we had the pork belly (crispy and juicy), and Shepard’s pie (great flavour, but seemed to be 90% potato). These all came with a communal dish of veggies.

Finally for dessert we hat the chocolate pot - it was extremely rich and delicious, and the apple crumble with Ice cream - it was classic, but very heavy on spices like cloves. If ordering it, I highly recommend adding the ice cream or custard as it evens out the flavour.

Overall I’d highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to experience classic British food.

Read about how great this place was for a food modern English meal not in the setting of a pub. And it met every expectation. The pies (Sheppard and Fish) were off the charts. The vegetables and the leek tart were also perfect. Would come back next visit. Get reservations early as it is a very popular place to eat.

They have a set menu that saves £s. You can get an appetizer, main and dessert and save the cost of the dessert. Who doesn’t like a good value when everything seems to cost a fortune.
