I needed to replace leaking cast iron guttering in my home and got a quote from Zenith. The first guy who came quoted for everything including (assumed) asbestos removal. I left it for a few months and then decided to go ahead. They arranged an appointment for me to see someone to re-measure and even though I confirmed the appointment twice, having waited home for an hour, the salesman didn't turn up. When I finally got through to them to ask why the answer was that despite my double confirmation they hadn't been able to reach me that morning because they'd copied my number down wrong so they just didn't bother showing up.

I complained to customer service because of the waste of time and they promised to take money off of my quote as a gratuity if I would let them come back and re-measure. I agreed and the next day the salesman came. He said he was from Weather Seal who apparently are the same company but also different because Zenith price differently- I still don't understand what he was talking about, I called Zenith I expected Zenith to show up. He came up with the same quote as the first guy but then added a £149 admin fee which apparently applies to every purchase and is non-refundable, and said that asbestos removal would be another £400 or so on top of that which they wouldn't tell me until After I agreed to the contract because they needed a surveyor. He said no one had told him about any gratuity so that was the price. I was unhappy with this because it states on their website that their quotes are guaranteed for 2 years! I called customer service again and no one had even heard of me! Their solution was to send a third salesman to measure Again.

This salesman quoted Double the price of his colleagues and wouldn't honour the quote I received 24 hours previous!

I had three separate quotes from Zenith and every single one was different. The most ludicrous being on 6th September a quote for £1400 and the very next day 7th September a quote for £3700. Each salesman disparaged the last and none could justify the pricing. It was the most ridiculous game of slapstick comedy which would have been funny if it hadn't wasted so much of my time. They couldn't decide if they were Zenith or Weather Seal, even though they are under the same banner no one communicates with each other. They don't stick to their pricing structures and they use misleading sales tactics as they were just exposed in the news for. I did not go through with an order because they were totally untrustworthy- they didn't even trust each other why should I give them My money?

In summary, Do Not give Zenith (or Weather Seal, or whoever they send to your house) your money unless you are into high stakes gambling and don't value it.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! The worst experience we've ever had with any contractor. They took six attempts to install the windows and got the designs wrong numerous times and took over 6 months to complete the job. They even had to swap them out numerous times. They even left the finish of the windows in a terrible state. When I made a strong compliant they showed no remorse. Have no idea how this company is still in business.

Get comfy, you're in for a slideshow treat!

From start to finish, everything feels like it is designed by boiler room sales boss/wolf of wall street fan.

The pre confirmation phone calls all ask, 'have you got anything planned for the rest of the evening?' The reason? The sales rep won't leave until he/she's delivered a convoluted sales pitch. I kicked him out after 2 hour and I still didn't have a price!

The pitch involves a 45 minute presentation on why Zenith are better than their unflattering Trust Pilot reviews followed by a lengthy lesson on why the windows are great. (Some of the reasons include the grey instead of black colouring on the inside of the windows and the windows make a sound like a shotgun if someone breaks them..?, I'm sure they're great but the Power Point seemed unnecessary)

The sales person then moves on to try to sell you a gas/electric swap over so they can make some extra commission (no thanks, I just wanted a quote for some windows).

A sales pitch on an unrelated store loyalty card so they can make some extra commission (no thanks, I just wanted a quote for some windows).

Their sales techniques include:
The classic, 'I need to phone my boss to get a special discount', I didn't even have a price to discount at this point.

The unusual, 'I'll give you a discount if you pick non white doors, it'll look better to have a variety in our local marketing brochure'

The zany 'if we put up a advertising board outside, what bus routes are you on so I can give you a crazy discount on our overpriced product'.

Needless to say, if you want a quote from a window fitter and supplier have a look for a local fitter on Trust Pilot or Checkatrade.

If you're after a good way to enjoy window related fun, watch 'White Gold' on BBC iPlayer, comedy genius about window salesmen set in the 80s where Zenith's sales pitch really belongs.
