Flames Of Lincoln

Had our stove fitted a year ago. Service from walking into the shop to commissioning was very professional. However, we had a major issue with the stove on the anniversary of its fitting which required us to shut it down for safety reasons.

Previously I have had problems with small business washing their hands of issues after a year. Therefore I was expecting push back and potentially some robust discussions!!!

I have now (privetly) eaten my hat with a dollop of humble pie. The staff could not have been more helpful. Once I'd explain the issue in the shop, a problem they had not encountered before, they promised to get someone out as soon as possible. 4 hrs later two engineers turn up. They carried out an inspection and resealed the unit, although they could not readily see why the issue has arisen. The stove works perfectly again.

We had a wood burner fitted on the 21st May. We waited three days as instructed before starting a kindle wood fire. The living room was filled with black smoke. Thinking I might have done something wrong although we had a wood burner at our previous property I checked the manual. A second attempt was made to light the fire with the same result black smoke filling the living room. I shone a light between the restriction plate and was shocked to see debris blocking the flue i stripped down the wood burner and found debris from where the fitters had cut a hole in the ceiling blocking the flue. They obviously had not covered the flue when cutting the hole in the roof space

As we are in lock-down I contacted Mark and sent photographs and asked him to call me to discuss the next day. I am still waiting for the call.

This could have caught our house on fire and we have spent two days with windows and doors open to clear the smoke smell in the room. If I do not hear from Mark (Flames of Lincoln by the close of play today I will be taking this matter further and making a complaint of the shoddy workmanship to Hetas. I will also be speaking to a Solicitor as under the sales of goods act 1974 the work carried out was not fit for purpose and was a serious health and safety breach on their behalf.

An update Mark has called me this morning 29/05/20 and apologised for the incident.We have come to an amicable agreement and this matter is now closed. I can only assume we were unlucky and thank Mark for resolving this issue hopefully now we can enjoy the wood burner when the weather changes back from the present heatwave!

From start to finish a great experience, fantastic range to choose from and high quality brands. I approached a number of companies to quote only a couple bothered to send any prices. I also struggled to find anyone that could do the whole job, burner, roof, and surround. Flames covered everything and the price was within my budget.The installation was great the team were great fun and respected our property! I could not be happier with the final result. Flames installed an electric fire with wood and marble surround. The work was of a very high standard and the the finish was superb. Certainly recommend this Company.

Really disappointed with a fire surround that was installed a couple of years ago. We are changing from an outset to an inset now and because of laziness the gas pipe protudes to stop an inset being fitted without dismantling the whole fireplace! Incidentally we are not getting gas fire from Flames as when we went in they tried to sell us electric! Would not recommend

In response to reply by Flames - a competent gas fitter has done so but had to remove the whole surround to do so. Had it been fitted by a competent gas fitter in the first place this extra 2 hours work and cost would not have been required!
