We were delighted to hold our daughters Christening celebration party in The Red Lion Pub garden. Graham and his team were so friendly and helpful throughout. They organised an exclusive area of the garden for us to use and provided a lovely food buffet for our family and friends, which was very much enjoyed by all. Some of our guests had dietary requirements and Graham kindly organised for them to have an alternative. We were able to decorate with balloons, bunting, banners etc. Though it rained for some of the time, we had undercover shelter with patio heaters to keep our guests dry and warm which was brilliant and the children loved using the adventure playground. It is the perfect place to hold a celebration, I would highly recommend!

Thank you so much Graham and team!

Party of 24 celebrating a birthday, food and service exceptional very friendly team. Everyone enjoyed the evening and commented on the relaxed atmosphere and how hard everyone worked to ensure we had a good time. Definitely one of our pubs to recommend. J&L.

Visited the red lion a few months ago during a weekend away. I must say the food was absolutely amazing and some of the best food we’ve ever had. The pub in itself is absolutely beautiful and really is such a pleasing place. My only downfall would be our server, but this could be as we went quite late in the day / towards the end of her shift. I pre booked a table and when I arrived was told they had no records of our booking. The pub was empty so was told to sit down anyway. When we were ready to order, we were told to not worry about payment yet as they needed us to get our orders in quick so they could close the kitchen. This made us feel uncomfortable and as though we were an inconvenience because we had booked weeks in advanced for food, so they would have known that we were planning on eating. When given our drinks, one of the glasses was half filled so we asked for it to be filled a little more and this was done without hesitation. As I said the pub and food is great but we didn’t feel welcome there at this time. The server seemed stressed even in an empty pub which is why I say maybe they’d had a busy day.
Overall, positive experience 🙂

Had a lovely meal in here after a day at Thorpe park. Tasty well cooked homemade food. I had the fish and chips, crispy batter soft fish, the missus' pie (blue cheese and beef) was tender and veg cooked well, the kids had no complaints either 😋 👌 Puddings topped it off. All in all a great meal at sensible prices. Would recommend.

The lunch group I lead had a lovely christmas lunch here recently. The food was lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for us. There were 27 of us but this number was handled well by both the kitchen and waiting staff. Great value for money as well. We will be back in 2023!

Thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas Lunch there. The service was perfect, food very nice and plenty of space. There were seven of us and we were on a round table so had just the right amount of room. Only criticism would be we didn't have a wine list so had to ask what was available. Unfortunately we chose the wrong one and it wasn't great. However, overall it was excellent and good value for money.

Fabulous food for Christmas! We booked the Christmas Dinner and it was utterly delightful and delicious.
Drink, bread and a savoury with sweet maple sauce quickly greated usm
We had crispy potato skins and the home made festive meat slice, then the Roast Turkey, home made Salmon en croute and beef fillet with stilton and peppercorn pie! The servings were good, the Yorkshire pudding perfect, the gravy was rich and the beef pie was astonishingly tasty.

Deserts went down well, the roulade as popular and the Sherry Trifle Cheesecake quite nice.

Aspirations for the cheese board were well intended but we decided we were brimfull and very satisfied.

The pub was nicely laid out, it was a lovely atmosphere but you could chat and hear and service was at your pace and quite tailored.

We had everything we wanted but one felt that asking for extra gravy or something else would have been welcomed.

As we left, warm, full and feeling very well looked after, we agreed that work permitting we'd be back next Christmas day but we'd be back sooner for the excellent meals.
