Sun Inn Retford

Really good food. Sunday roast was fantastic. Big Yorkshire pudding, extra gravy and meat was very tender. Fish and chips was great too. The fish was cooked perfectly not dry or greasy! Staff was polite too.

The restaurant was nice and the main meal was good I had the salmon but the dessert was not good for the price I had the passion fruit cheese cake don't know how anyone could eat this soo sweet 😖 and just being told by the server it's Passion fruit what do you expect is not good. I did not ask for another dessert and I feel disappointed at the end of a lovely meal with friends.

My food experience at the Sun Inn was terrible , the food we ordered was second rate , hard chewy cardboard textured frys and the BBQ ribs were over cooked and just not nice ,
The staff were very friendly and polite with no qualms there .
We travel a lot and have eaten in many different places some good some bad but the Sun Inn takes first place for terrible food .
The chef must have had a bad day as a lot of reviews recommended the Sun Inn that is why we visited , we will never visit again its just a waste of good money for bad food

Incredible food, staff, service, drinks and atmosphere. Very well priced for the quality received. Couldn't recommend enough with lovely happy smiles from the staff. Incredibly welcoming

This place had such promise; nice welcome on arrival, pleasant decor and a drinks order as soon as you sat down.
But then, things went south upon arrival of the food.
First dish was sent back, as it wasn’t as detailed on the menu (waiting staff agreed with the error and apologised, but meant my friend and I couldn’t eat at the same time).
Second dish was again sent back, as it wasn’t as per what I’d ordered.
Third dish was only have eaten, as it was tasteless and bland.
Would I go there again? Maybe. My friend’s meal looked nice, so I might give them one more chance…

What can I say, overall it was alright.
Nice food and drinks, lovely atmosphere but some wait staff are rude and some foods in mains menù not exact.
We ordered the catch of the day, were told it was trout, I asked what is was and the waiter stated it was clear didn't know what else to tell me. Comes the food and turns out catch of the day was SALMON.
Dessert. We ordered CHOCOLATE ORANGE BROWNIE -sounded delicious, and it was really lovely. No orange in it though (: that's a lie, no mixed berry compote either.
Overall I brought my mom for her bday and she enjoyed it so that is what matters but yeah. There won't be a next time for me.

Post Christmas meal, service and food were great. Beer quality was good, but choice was one. I will definitely return and recommend 👌
