Delicious food. Great atmosphere and good service. Came here as a special treat on our honeymoon and it was fantastic. Excellent beetroot starter which was so fresh. Followed by venison that was perfectly cooked. Everything from the chips to the beer were better than any gastro pub meal we had had before. Thanks again for an incredible experience.

This is a true gem of an establishment. An absolute must visit if you're in the area. Amazing staff, beautiful venue and a chef that is clearly very talented! If I could give 6 stars, I would!

Ate here last night, the 27th May, food was superb I had the sea brill which was delicious and my partner had the pork chop which was equally nice. The staff were very attentive and polite and nothing was to much trouble, would definitely recommend this place 👌.

Great food. We were introduced to the Pack Horse by a friend who was keen for us to experience the food on offer. Delicious. I had the prawns to start, they were hugh; beautifully grilled and presented followed by a beef dish to be shared by two, again beautifully cooked served with triple cooked chips and the most fantastic onion rings. I've had onion rings before but not like these.
Not the cheapest place to eat but great quality.
Good beers too. When we went the sun put in an appearance and we spent a couple of hours enjoying the beer garden at the front.
A great place to go for a treat.

This place is wonderful! Lovely pub in a gorgeous village with stunning scenery. The food is quite simply outstanding! Fine dining at its best and you won't be disappointed I promise. On Saturday night we had the whole experience with oysters, amuse bouche, starters, mains and pudding and we liked it so much we went back the next day for Sunday lunch. This was equally fantastic with succulent cuts of meat, huge yorkies and delicious veg followed by salted caramel tart and home made ice-cream. Everything is home made and locally sourced and the owners and staff are so friendly and welcoming.

After reading, by chance, a review in the Times we booked a table and were not disappointed. The staff are attentive but not in your face. The supervisor, sorry didn't catch his name, was exceptionally knowledgeable regarding the food and wine selection. The menu was exciting and different, using locally sourced ingredients. The food was lovely and presented so well. The pub itself has a warm friendly, local pub atmosphere but they are serving top class food. Definitely worth a trip. And my partner was very impressed by the ale selection. And they do a nice selection of cocktails.

Now then. This was really really really good. Like absolutely no word of a lie brilliant. I'm going to say it was my best experience of hospitality and food in 2021. I read the review in the Times and thought hey I've family up at Christmas let's give it a go. Booked a table for 10 and rolled up in that fab bit of time post Christmas and pre new year. We went for a walk and rocked up a bit early, and the table was all ready for us and gave us time to have some pre dinner cocktails and injest the menu. I had a whisky sour and a Manchester egg to get the juices working, and my goodness, we all loved it. Scallops and beef followed. Well-timed and attentive staff made the meal flow with a laid-back form of professional friendliness that made me so very happy. The children and the dog loved it as much as the adults. We'll done to all the crew here who are really delivering a winner in Hayfield. It's better than you even think it might be. Not pretentious or too serious. It's bloody perfection.

Lunch The Pack Horse Hayfield
With the very talented Luke Payne and his team on the pass.

We have been wanting to try this pub all year. So on one of the coldest days so far this year we set off on an hour and half journey through fog and snow.

This is not your average pub/restaurant.
Its listed in michelinguide .
To being awarded 32 spot in this years Top 50 Gastropubs

The menu is seasonal and changes frequently ,but thankfully not everything.
As no visit is complete unless you have their famous Manchester Egg.

As well as bar snacks, there is a main menu served in the restaurant part of the pub with its new open kitchen.
You can opt for two course £38 or
three course £45.
You are also served Amuse Bouche and house bread & butter.

Our choices were -

Starters
Smoked ham hock terrine
Loch Fyne Scallop +3

Mains
Stone Bass Fillet
Malt glazed Pigs Cheeks
Side of leeks mornay +7

Desserts
Vanilla Crème Brulee
And another must when visiting is the Salted caramel Custard tart.

Was it worth the journey?
Of course it was.
The food and the service is impeccable.
This is definitely worth a visit and a true #Gastropub 👍
Oh and we didn't take any souvenirs🤣
If you know you know.
