The Cedars is a very lovely establishment. The rooms are clean, a good size, well laid out and good value for money. The staff are very helpful, thoughtful and friendly. The bar has a wonderful selection of drinks and snacks and a very good selection of areas to sit, chill out and listen to music.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff really friendly and helpful. Great breakfast too. Tranquil garden with possible chance of seeing steam train passing. Also plenty off parking 😊

absolutely horrendous

1) food was absolutely disgusting tiny portions for £13, pasta undercooked, veg tasted like it came out a tin, burger bun was burnt we even found a hair in the burger and was only offered a free drink for compensation

2) service was horrendous told food would be half hour ended up waiting over an hour for it

3) bathrooms are stinky and full of mould. we had no hand soap either

4) walls are paper thin can hear everything going on

will not be returning >:(

Stayed one night in a single room overlooking heritage railway. Room was recently refurbished and spotlessly clean, with a nice big shower. Bed was comfortable. Staff were very helpful - beyond the call of duty. Superb view from my window of several locomotives. Which chuffed past. I thought I recognised a Black 5. As for the others, you’d better come and see for yourself, as I’m no expert. Pleasant gardens where meals can be served or trains watched. A couple of interesting beers on draught, including a Brixton IPA. A lovely walk round Charnwood Water only 2 minutes away, where I photographed a nest of coot chicks.

Family lunch - everyone was over the moon with the food, a hidden gem. Well worth a visit. Sat in the Steam Garden and watched the trains from Great Central passing just feet away.

Another disgusting state of affairs. Greed driven owners decide to sell out to Wandsworth Council and house migrants depriving local people of its facilities, most notably funeral receptions with the cemetery across the road. Shocking

Closed apparently for housing migrants, also never forget the drunk barman/owner insulting me at my mother's funeral. Reported to charnwood borough licensing who 'had a word'.

Stayed one night here when we visited the Great Central Railway just before Christmas. We hadn't booked but they had a room available on the ground floor which backed right onto the railway which was perfect. For £59 for the night, it was very good value for money. The room was small and dated, but very clean with tea and coffee making facilities and shower gel and shampoo provided. The small TV was sufficient with a large range of channels to choose from. I would definitely recommend this place to stay if you are visiting the area.
