The rooms were tired and in need of refurbishment. Our first one was dirty and dusty with damaged tiles. The restaurant was good and so was the menu. The staff were trying very hard to please. Unfortunately on each visit a number of items on the menu were unavailable although the food was good. Unfortunately this is one of the most convenient hotels for the Channel ports. On 5th August the male receptionist appeared to be unsure of what to do. Most positive aspect was the receptionist Louise. Extremely helpful and very knowledgeable.

The staff is extremely kind. They all are super professional and friendly. They made sure everything was perfect during our stay. The hotel/resort is wonderful and the facilities are simply great: fantastic gym and pool. The food is also excellent and the outdoor space is cozy and relaxing. One star deducted just due to the cleaning situation in the room: we found food rests and empty bottles next to the bed and the couch (and also a used hair band full of hair behind the cushion). The bathroom walls would also need some scrubbing and hot steam cleaning as there is visible dirt in the fuges.

Really upset as I would’ve rated this hotel 5/5 if it were based on the customer service we received. The room unfortunately looked more like a 3 star hotel (or less) than a 4 star. The red painted walls had chipping everywhere, dirty sofa. The rooms are in need of some TLC immediately! Certainly not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel. It also looks nothing like the lobby, which they’ve clearly invested money in to give people a good first impression. On the plus side, the rooms are very spacious and the bed is comfy. The “spa” looked more like a leisure centre and was very busy. We wanted a spa day but opted to not to have one after viewing the pool area. It is not a premium hotel. We stayed in a 3 star premier inn the following day which overall, had more of a luxurious feel. We won’t be returning.

Value for money based on room price. Reception well staffed who were all helpful. Gym/pool staff were also informative and helpful. Bar staff seemed a little overwhelmed.
Very well located.

I spent one night at premier Inn and one night at Ashford international.
Premier Inn was better and cheaper.

Ashford international
Pros- good location, nice receptionist. Nice food from room service. £10 room upgrade for drinks was very good value - 4 mini bottles of wine 2 beers 2 Pepsi's and 2 waters. Swimming pool was nice.
Cons
Rooms are dated and not especially clean. Wet patch on the floor (probably from a mop)
Cot was broken and took a while to fix. Guy who came had a BO problem so left the room with a smell.
Room was a bit cold.
Yellow stain on toilet seat.

So glad that the hotel has got through the pandemic and service standards are improving and getting back to where they were. Lovely friendly staff, good food, very clean room. Stayed for a two night conference, my tenth visit to the hotel.

Ideally situated for the Channel Tunnel. A plus - dogs are allowed. Comfortable rooms. We ate in the bar. The kitchen had run out of two of the three things we ordered but when it came the food was good. Staff were pleasant. We will go back.
