Booked two nights here so I could go to the Garage nation festival. Paid extra for an early check in so I could take a shower in good time and set off. When I arrived there was NO HOT WATER!. I went down to reception and was told that we’re having a maintenance issue and someone was coming out to fix it. The receptionist offered an extra kettle and suggested I filled the sink and had a wash from there. Which is exactly what I had to do. (Baring in mind it was 31 degrees outside) No hot water on day 2 either, I had another wash in the sink with my extra kettle. Budget hotel, I get it! But £150 on a Saturday night is ridiculous when you have no hot water. It was more like a hostel, there was stains on the beds, walls and carpets. Creakheads on your doorstep (like literally walking in and out of the building ALL day making noise) The area also looks dangerous at night, you constantly have people approaching you begging for money or cigarettes. I wouldn’t recommend staying here at all.

Room typically one of those most likely waiting on the refurb list but well overdue.

Steel windows still being used so secondary glazing which I don't think has been cleaned since it was fitted.

Carpet burned / stained needs replacing.

Bed base cover torn off so large part of timber frame visible.

No spare pillows left in room.

Crayon marks on bed head & bedside lamp.

Also something brown which I don't think was crayon smeared on bed head & what could that be Holmes ?

No mattress protector/ barrier so a cotton sheet is the only thing separating you from those stains & dried fluids.

Desk fan broken.

TV remote volume doesn't work

Bath mat badly worn so trip hazard right there even though is a disclaimer warning stuck to tiles about slippery surfaces.

I don't think I missed anything.

There must of been something positive ?

The mattress wasn't uncomfortable & the staff were friendly & polite but overall experience, well pretty bad for a well known chain such as Travelodge.

Staying at Travelodge Croydon Central again?

Maybe not

Me and my friends stayed on the weekend when the temperature was 35 degrees. Firstly on the outside, building is in serious need of renovation, did not feel very safe. Checking in staff were friendly and happy to help. Once we entered the room realised there was no AC in the rooms. As we were on the 9th floor, sun directly hit us causing the room to feel like a sauna. We had 2 fans, one of them did not work at all, considering we had a large room one fan was simply not enough, one fan per room is not the greatest policy especially in these extreme conditions. All this led to a very uncomfortable night. Bathroom was missing soap, toilet scrubbing brush, hot water was not working correctly. I normally stay in Travelodges but Croydon has been the worst I have ever stayed in.

Worst Hotel I've ever been to! Had staff force entry into my room at 11pm (didn't even knock) for no reason and they ran off once they realised I was in the room, had 2 drunk women knock on my door at 3am laughing and running around the hotel. Rooms are definitely in need of a refurb; the hotel in general and it's guests are best described as very low quality.

This was a grim stay. Very well located but a very faded hotel indeed. The room was comfortable for the price but installing a smoke alarm directly above the bed with a super bright flashing red light on it didn’t help sleeping. It was like being in a disco, even with my eyes closed.

There was also a constant deep thumping noise throughout the hotel and especially in the hotel room all night, non stop. Could be the heating system perhaps but was so distracting.

Woke up feeling totally exhausted from being unable to sleep 🥹

Rooms very not very well cleaned, carpets are disgusting, the whole place needs to be refurbished. The only saving Grace is how lovely and helpful the reception staff are. The entrance was garden to find, as I looked like a side door... Overall not impressed.

I had a bad experience last time I visited as i had stayed at this hotel several times. It depends on the staff some or more understanding than others. My issue at all times are the keys. Most times they don't work. I have notice also when doing late checkouts that they do not upgrade their key to work if you go out on the day of departure. This is always a problem getting back in to the room. Also they do not inform the housekeeper as they often knock on the door at 12 mid day to ask when are you leaving. Which can be annoying. My last visit they couldn't find the booking on their system that i did a late check out and i had to go up and down the lift several time to prove that i had done so even tho i showed an email stating that i had paid. All this made us lose time from the extra 2 hours that we had paid for. The housekeeper and manger came back b4 2pm which we wasn't finished packing our things. We ask for an extra 15 minutes but was told that it wouldn't be possible. You would think after they had let us lose over 10 minutes going up and down the lift to prove that we had paid for late check out they would have and could have given us a bit more time to leave the room.

Absolutely appalling, uncomfortable beds, horrific room conditions barely fit for human life let alone a nice stay, bad smells and horrible food, they set their own fire alarm off to make us pay 150! Absolutely scam stay away from this place if you have any sense
