A well furnished small cottage for 2. We spent a long weekend there with easy access to a number of national trust locations and 30minutes from the beach outside of weekends.

Beautiful location, brilliant for couples or single occupancy. Set in gorgeous surrounding and close enough to amenities and attractions

DO NOT BOOK!

We booked this for two nights and were very disappointed with the place, we decided to leave before we even checked in and unpacked. This is not what is advertised. They advertise a barn/cottage but instead it is a converted room off the side of their house. There is no garden, there are no views and no windows. There was no welcoming hamper either. We tried to communicate amicably with the proprietor, but instead of opening up a dialogue with us and possibly coming to a fair and reasonable agreement on a compromise, Lucy decided to pocket our 300 pounds and block us. Extremely disappointed and upset at how we've been treated.

I want to be fair by explaining why I have given the barn a poor rating. Firstly there are inaccuracies in the description: it is an extremely small space which is attached to the large farmhouse. It has been fitted and equipped very well and it is clear from the website that you will be sleeping in the eaves. The shower is not a huge rain shower but is very nice, however there is a smell of damp which, of course, pervades the whole space at times because it is so small. There is a nice outside space to sit, but it is not a garden with views; it is a pebbled area with a view of a beech hedge, then some wooded land beyond. The main problem is that it is not made clear that the farmhouse itself is rentable and therefore the blurb about it being a romantic getaway for two becomes a redundant and clearly misleading claim, if it is being rented out. When we arrived we were confronted with a group of 12 who had rented the house for the weekend to enjoy themselves without recourse to anyone else being there. They were very apologetic as it had been sold to them as that and they said they had no idea anyone else would be there. Neither did we. By 1pm in the morning, having listened to them partying, clearly having a good time, we had to have words about the noise. This was so upsetting for both parties. We left the next day, having received a refund from the owner and then had to try to find alternative accommodation for the week at very short notice. Suffice to say our holiday was completely spoiled. I think it is important guests know what the potential situation could be and we would have appreciated the owner letting us know in advance what was before us. If she had, we most certainly would have cancelled the booking and searched elsewhere with more time to arrange suitable accommodation.

Quiet, peaceful and secluded. Everything you need for a perfect country retreat for 2. - Very welcoming with a lovely hamper of organic local produce.
