Great Hotel, Divers at Capers look no further. Refurbished, cosy, restaurant with new chef is really tasty. Had a 10oz Ribeye with Roquefort sauce, excellent local beef. Breakfast equally great. We weren't diving Saturday afternoon or Sunday so sat and had drinks in the Last Drop pub in the hotel. Great atmosphere, cracking beer. The hospitality here is first rate, it's the people that make a place and any deficiencies of the old hotel layout are wiped away by the warm and generous owner, staff, generous food and great drinks. Also a drying area for wet dive gear if you ask. Top English hospitality and highly recommended to all, especially tired divers or walkers.

We stayed here for two nights in September arriving on Bank Holiday Monday (the day of the Queen’s funeral) on a day when all establishments had closed. We were greeted warmly by Glen, the proprietor, informing us that their kitchens were closed due to the unexpected Bank Holiday. All eateries were likewise shut and as my husband is disabled and we are somewhat restricted, we were at a loss as to how to find somewhere to eat. No problem to Glen, as he very kindly offered that his partner would cook something for us, if we so wished!

Our room was clean and very comfortable. The disabled lift was a great asset. The breakfast was delicious and oh my goodness, have never tasted sausage like it. We were even packed up an enormous sandwich to take out.

Would definitely like to stay again

10 out of 10 for friendliness, hospitality and going the extra mile.

Last minute booking for a large group, the Royal station were amazing. Arranged keys for us to arrive late. Helped us arrange trains for the next day and served us breakfast quickly. Still so tasty. We'll be back x

Brilliant hotel with brilliant food and beer and brilliant staff. We stayed here for 2 nights and had a private dinner here, the lamb shank was unreal. We stayed in the family room and had much more room than needed so that was fantastic. Thank you.

The hotel is lovely, I have been wanting to stay here for a long time so when the chance came along I had to grab it.

Rooms are clean and well laid out, check in was easy and welcoming.. the food is amazing, I have eaten far too much. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The building itself is full of character, and the location, next to the station is perfect.

Amazing food all homemade not just pub grub! Tapas/ wine bar at the front is perfect for a meal or drinks.
Rooms are immaculate, newly refurbished with comfy beds, new en-suites.
The ballroom upstairs is a fantastic venue for weddings with a lift for access and a gorgeous roof terrace that overlooks the train station and gets sunshine all day.
Drink prices are reasonable and there is always live music at the weekend in the junction bar (side entrance)
Very close to the train station, bus stops and m6 motorway junction 35.
Perfect for visits to the local areas and the Lake District without the tourists!
Absolutely thrilled with our stay!
Thankyou Maggie and Glen
