Awful. We left a night earlier than we had planned. Once you've collected your key at the front desk, the fun begins. Make the most of the air con in reception; it's likely the most comfortable you'll feel for the entire duration of your stay.

Inexplicably, as you enter the corridor and take the lift to your room, you'll notice the air con budget ran dry. Your first clue will be the oppressive stuffiness of every inch of the hotel beyond the reception area, the second will be the ominous hum that you hear from behind every door.

No need to worry. That ominous hum is just the sound of one (maybe two, if you're lucky) cheap, substandard desk fan(s) oscillating pitifully inside each room. That single contraption is your best hope of staying cool at Duke Street's Premier Inn. It will oscillate to the best of its abilities, pathetically pushing hot air around the room in a futile attempt to imitate some semblance of the air conditioning they definitely could have afforded to install.

After being informed it's too late to expect a refund or even a good night's sleep at an alternative branch with air con and confirmed rooms available (your money has already been spent on more cheap desk fans, I guess?), you might be advised to call Premier Inn's customer relations line as the matter is 'out of the hands' of the reception staff. Should you trust the brand enough to do so, be sure to suspend all sense of logic and moral reasoning prior to your conversation. Phrases like 'duty of care' and 'not being provided the service paid for' are beyond translation.

Like the fans in the rooms, your conversation will undoubtedly oscillate pointlessly until it splutters to a pitiful stop. By which point you're already sleep deprived and taking your money elsewhere, knowing you'll never stay in a Premier Inn again.

Feeling thirsty after reading all that? Don't count on Duke Street's Premier Inn to provide such a basic provision. You won't find a single bottle of water in your room, much less a fridge to keep it in.

We stayed there for a few days in August.
The positives first: comfy beds, clean room, nearby car park, short walk to the centre, enjoyable breakfast. The blond lady running breakfast restaurant was lovely and on the TOP of her game.

However:
There is NO AIRCON in the bedrooms. You can tilt the window by an inch and they provide you with a big fan, however be prepared to stew in those rooms on them boiling summer nights.
They promised to refresh our towels and bins on request, but never turned up to do so.

Would I stay again? Probably, but NOT in the summer.

This hotel is well located, but everything about the rooms is awful. Far too hot, windows barely open, and they provide you with a fan that makes noise but pushes no air.

Stay here if you want to avoid sleep, and overheat!

This branch of the extensive Premier Inn chain is conveniently located a few minutes’ walk from Norwich market place. It’s also close to the shops and restaurants on St Benedict Street.
You get what you’d expect from a Premier Inn: a clean room, comfortable bed and fluffy towels. It’s next to the huge Duke St car park, although sadly, there’s no longer a special parking rate for hotel guests.
Only docked one star because of the view from our window of a wall, and the noisy pigeon that kept waking us up the night. Neither of these are enough to stop us coming back.

No room service via a phone at all. TV always turns on to a radio station. A few screws missing around in doors pictures etc. A few scrapes on walls and doors that need painting over. Breakfast was amazing for the price of all you can eat.

Centrally situated for many attractions like the Cathedral, Market, Guildhall, Castle and many quirky shopping streets, old buildings and a good choice of cafes, pubs and restaurants. Walking distance to train Station and buses. Clean and comfortable rooms.

Service at bar was occasionally poor, due to staff also on front desk. Food was good, pity beers were not served in correct glasses. Car parking not good, due to distance away from hotel, also have to pay.

My favourite budget hotel in Norwich.

It’s quiet, and we’ll placed. It’s a 2 minute walk to a shopping area, 5-7 minutes from the main shopping street.

Parking is available just next door in a multi story.
