Can only speak for the restaurant as we visited for lunch before exploring Portmeirion. The food was extremely disappointing, bland and flavourless. We asked for the beef main to be taken off our bill because it was so tough, it was practically inedible - we very rarely complain but just couldn't justify the £22 for a sub-par meal. Staff were not particularly attentive, we were the first seated in the restaurant and were not offered any water until a fourth table was seated 15 minutes later. On a positive note, the castle and grounds are beautiful, and a member of bar staff was very helpful in recommending a wine.

Restaurant!
My 92 year old mother was visiting from Eire and I wanted to treat her to something special,
and facilities for a wheelchair user are good. The lunch menu was extremely limited and unimaginative, with bland and overcooked vegetables. There were 7 of us in total and I have to say we were all extremely disappointed with the quality and combination of foods that simply didn't go together. 10% was knocked off as a gesture when I gave my opinion but I won't be going again and the day somewhat fell flat which upset me. The grounds and castle are truly magnificent and very well maintained but I am very confused regarding the standard of food being served in high quality surroundings. I certainly won't be going there again to eat in the future.

Lunch today. Not what I expected
Order taken. How would you like your lamb. Pink or cooked ? Lamb arrived, all 2 pieces of it in a lamb and vegetable pie. New potatoes stone cold Asked for it to changed. Arrived back within seconds. Complete with my used knife and fork still on the plate. Chicken ok. Nothing to make me say very tasty
Staff unprofessional. Stood around talking between themselves. No standard of uniform. Restaurant manager lacked direction and leadership
Asked for tap water. Long time to run the tap
Ladies loo. Hand dryer needs good clean

Fantastic place! Great service, the staff we met were all so friendly. Castell Deudraeth was set in beautiful surroundings and we had an amazing room overlooking the gardens and estuary. Would highly recommend this place.

Not stayed yet but have several times before. Just discovered there is a new motorhome facility where you can park for virtually nothing vs. the entrance free and get all day and night access. The whole point of paying the extremely high hotel/village/Castell prices was the exclusivity. Why do the motorhomes get access after day visitors left. Baffling!

We stayed in the Neptune suite at #Portmeirion
The staff were excellent, friendly and courteous. Had a great time, food at the Castell Dudraeth was exceptional, if you are eating at the Hotel Portmeirion be sure that you enjoy a very game oriented menu, unfortunately not my favourite.

Had a great stay in Castell Deudraeth accommodation- our room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Although the bathroom is in need of modernisation
-Evening meal at the castell was lovely, as was the breakfast at the village hotel.
-Amazing staff, Anwen and Cheyne were very helpful!

Negatives- due to the location of our room we were often disturbed by the beeping of the buggies that transport guests (free of charge) between the Castle and Village Hotel, a service that operates 24hrs a day. Definitely not ideal in first thing in the morning as it woke us up!

A nice visit to this place where the Prisoner was filmed back in the 1960s. Although it was raining when we visited the place it was still worth the £10 entry fee
