Dr Nina is very personable, knowledgeable, kind and has advocated for me to ensure that I get the very best outcomes and care from her, along with my NHS oncology team.
A personalised holistic approach to any treatment plan is used depending on symptoms and latest blood results, not just the same protocol for each person. This has made a huge difference to my quality of life, increased resilience during treatments, enabling me to enjoy life and not constantly worry about my health.
The clinic has many great practitioners who have offered me amazing personal support. Using EFT techniques from Aga I was able to walk to my recent surgery calmly without retraumatising myself – I had previously experienced PTSD with flash backs around post-surgical events.
Octavia has been an incredible support during my post-surgical rehabilitation enabling me to rebuild my muscle mass, as well as scar work and diaphragm release. I am now once again able to do all the activities that I enjoy.
I feel fully supported by the amazing team at Synthesis Clinic giving me the strength and support required for whatever the future holds.
I wish I'd known in advance that this clinic is run by a doctor who only sees cancer patients, with a revolving door of other doctors. My first appointment with Dr Ghazala was promising - she seemed to listen and understand, recommended lots of (expensive) tests and promised to take account of both symptoms and the test results in a targeted way unique to me. However, the follow-up appointment felt like painting my numbers and left me no further forward than before...possibly because she was already heading for that revolving door.
The only helpful thing in the whole experience was the advice I received from one of the nutritionists, Jolene, which is why I've given two stars. Otherwise, a colossal waste of time and money.
I would thoroughly recommend Dr Nina as an extremely impressive healthcare practitioner as well as just a lovely person. She is very thorough, evidence-based, efficient, professional, yet alongside this she is also highly personable, open-minded and warm. In my experience, this is not an easy mix to find! Dr Nina is very skilled, with a great depth and range of knowledge, but she also really listens and quickly grasps your perspective, empathically and without judgement. This is so validating and means that you have an ally to come alongside you and work through things systematically in an evidence-based, results-driven way, whilst also valuing your subjective descriptions of how you're feeling or responding to something.
The Synthesis admin team have also been great - patient, organised, polite and good at communicating.
Prior to this, I had tried many, many practitioners and approaches for over 20 years without success. It is pretty exciting to start getting your health back and I have recommended Dr Nina to loads of people. Thank you so much Synthesis!
In the conventional world the practitioners only focused on my blood results & scans. There was no focus on me as a person. No discussion of medical or family history. There were many incidences of malpractice such as prescribing me hormone therapy after surgery without checking how I metabolise hormones or my unique genetic pathways that detoxify hormones such as oestrogen.
In the integrative world I paid a lot of money only to be recommended a specific “protocol” or “diet” or many supplements (once again without asking about my medical or family history.) I was prescribed standard supplements, such as ECGC or Resveratrol which Dr Nina taught me were not suitable for me with some genetic hiccups that I had.
There was a wait to see Dr Nina, but our initial consultation was very thorough & professional. I had to fill out a lot of information prior to the consultation & my plan was very personalised. I also felt my physical, emotional & spiritual body was addressed in this consultation & treatment plan.
Dr Nina always listened to my concerns & I felt like I was being treated as a whole person, not just a cancer patient. We did many functional tests to work on supporting my underlying terrain & metabolism, such as gut microbiome tests, organic acids tests & a comprehensive genetic panel. I feel these tests allowed a personalised program that has seen me through standard of care feeling more vital & in better health than prior to chemo. I had my bias against chemotherapy, but can report that after 5 treatments I still have a full head of hair, my nails are as strong as ever, I was able to travel, exercise every day, eat very well & my blood counts have remained well much to my & my conventional teams surprise.
I also feel Jody from Synthesis clinic was always able to answer my queries & was quick to respond to any questions.
I know this is a journey & there is a journey ahead of me, but I feel much more empowered having learnt about myself through testing & personalised support.
I do hope patients undergoing a cancer process int be U.K. have access to more personalised & integrative support as I feel this can be life changing & life saving.
Updated: Great to see that you are so good are responding to these reviews. As a suggestion, as you are offering a service, try to be polite and a little less forceful, reems of bold text in the first response setting out your demands doesn't go down well, quick polite phone call would have been far more effective. I work with customers every day and would never speak to them in the way that you do. I very rarely write negative reviews so you have really had to go the extra mile to provoke this response.
