We switched our cats onto a vegan diet over 2 years ago and they have thrived on it. We have been using Benevo products and also making some of the meals ourselves to add variety.
Sadly we can't rely on the supply of benevo products from Veggie Pets/Vegeco as there are often "supply problems" with items being out of stock for long periods or "production problems etc" This has meant we have had to source products from elsewhere everytime Veggiepets have another problem.
Our recent & last order was such an issue. We ordered as usual with no notice of any issues although, the cat yeast was still out of stock, yet again.
Despite the parcel being marked as usual to leave in our back porch, DPD didn't deliver, instead they left a card in our back porch and took a picture of our back door, left open for access.
I rang Veggie Pets to inform them of this and explained we were away on holiday, needing the food for the lady popping in each day to feed our cats. A nice member of staff said she would resolve the issue and shorty and email arrived stating the driver would pop back with our order. This did not happen.
The next day the same problem occurs with the driver leaving another card in the back porch and taking a picture of the open back porch door.
I had recieved an email to say VP would monitor the delivery incase of an issue. I emailed VP again to state the issue to get a reply stating our parcel would be taken to a parcelshop, over a mile walk from our house, and that there were no further options available.
I did try to ring DPD but they now have a system that does not allow customers to speak to a member of staff, to sort out urgent issues. I did ring a B2B number designed for business owners and the call was hung up as soon as I mentioned I was a customer.
I emailed VP to explain that the parcel shop idea was not of any use.
A reply came back saying they were refunding the delivery cost and they have not responded to emails since.
I have replied asking for a refund but this has not been replied to and no refund has been made.
As a result, the lady feeding our cat had no option but to buy non veggie cat food from the local shop. As vegans we are devistated to do this simply because VP/DPD are unable to do the job we have paid for, we find this extremley upsetting.
Veggie Pets are very expensive for delivery and charge almost £7 for delivery where other vegan firms usually give us free delivery for large orders or £4.99 or £5.99 for smaller ones.
Forcing customers to pick up heavy parcels from a DPD pickup shop is not good for customers, especially if they have to walk a mile each way with a heavy parcel. If we pay for delivery to our homes they should deliver as agreed.
Using a courier with no ability for customers to contact them is unacceptable, especially when the courier is unable to simply deliver a parcel as directed. Checking online I can see there area 1000's of recent compliants about similar issues with DPD including their own Facebook pages.
Why use a courier that can not do its job for essential pet supplies?
Veggie Pets are unable to keep a regular supply of veggie pet food in stock. This is not acceptable and not responsible for a veggie company to be doing.
Avoid Veggie Pets & Vegeco. There are better suppliers out there who will look after you
UPDATE 5 4 2019 as a reply to Damian's comment.
Damian, attached 2 images to show the order was marked to leave in back porch as usual and that the parcel was delivered to the local parcel shop before being returned to you.
Claiming customers are posting false reviews etc is rather dangerous legally.
I await your apology & retraction of incorrect info.
Screen shots of your comments have been taken.
Stop this cruelty to pets today.
Because of your response, I felt obliged to respond... clearly you as a business are sensitive to negative feedback, I do not need to be a customer to review your products, and my opinion (and this review system is for people's opinions) is that vegan pet food is outrageous. As I said being vegan is a lifestyle choice, and if it's one you make there is no need to subject your carnivorous pets to it too, I do not make my cat smoke cigarettes just because I choose to smoke them.
