Lovely little village shop. Sells newspapers/magazines. A few groceries/milk/bread. A sweet counter and post office. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Unfortunately, I am also involved in this debacle. We DID have an agreement that Freiston post office would hold mail. In fact, we've collected there twice in the past, and each time we've told them our business name. No problem. No argument. On this occasion it just went wrong. We've since spoken to two other local post offices, and they both say that Freiston post office should have held our mail as agreed, and it certainly WAS agreed. If not, why is it that the post office not only ACCEPTED our package, but also SIGNED for it? They might well have held it as a courtesy, but it was an AGREED courtesy based on the fact that we've sent hundreds of packages from this establishment (but not anymore, note). Whatever other customers have to say, and whatever experiences they have, it does NOT change the facts. We would not have given out the Freiston Post Office address had there not been an agreement in place. Would you? This is now pure denial from Freiston Post Office. On this occasion at least, they failed miserably and didn't have the courage to admit it. It's that simple. And note the immature "little man" jibe - which has nothing to do with the facts here. It's telling, and it underlines the mentality at this premises. The bottom line? They disposed of our mail prematurely. They broke an agreement. The post office worked adequately until things started to go wrong. Then they couldn't admit their mistake. The fault was theirs. The financial loss is theirs too. We do NOT recommend them.

Be warned if planning to use this post office. I recently had a package delivered there under the poste restante service. The woman at the counter agreed to accept the package and was obliged to hold it for 14 days. After 10 days (possibly 11 maximum), she decided to simply hand it back to the Royal Mail. Had the sender not included a return address, that package would be lost and/or destroyed. When I complained about the poor service, she became near hysterical and told me that "her boss had changed the rules" and she demanded to know why I needed the service in the first place (which is none of her business). She simply couldn't accept that she agreed to accept the odd poste restante delivery, and had failed to discharge that duty. There's more to it than this. But the bottom line is that this woman has a clear mental cut-off point where everything turns into a mess. Aside from the miserable faces she routinely pulls, the service here is slow and klunky. I frequently had to repeat what service I needed, and if I gave her five packages that were identical, she would (slowly) put each on the scale and (slowly) sort out the labels, etc. I won't use this post office, and I'll be sure to warn friends and family. There is a shop attached to the post office. The products are largely poor quality, and the range is minimal. Incompetent. Unreliable. Tolerable up to a point, and then WATCH OUT! Best look elsewhere. I gave one star, but only because you can't give zero.

The Post Office does all the things a village Post Office can, and the shop has a good range of products. Most of the products are price marked by the manufacturer so you know you're not being exploited.

I have been going to this Post office for over 3 years.
Kath and Pete are a very friendly couple. Being new to the village back then, they knew my name and as you can see l learnt theirs.
No bacon, ham or similar items are sold at this shop as there's a butcher next door. So both shops work together and found that a nice touch..
I can order bread and things that are not in the shop or if out of stock, if its lack of stock at cash and carry or missed.. But they always find a way to please their customers..
I tend to go to the Post office 4 times a week, mainly for postal matter, but can't resist their free range eggs!!
With Covid and having to adjust to the shop rules. The counters always have sanitizers and face masks you can buy.
Great shop and would highly recommend a typical village shop
