First time visit, staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of free parking. Has a cafe for hot snacks and drinks and a small shop at the entrance. M/F toilets including disabled. Best to check website for opening times, some weekends used for closed parties. Good information boards around the site with staff ready to chat. Relatively level underfoot but it is an historic industrial site. Easy to find with satnav and the postcode off the website, brown signs when you get near. Lots to see and family friendly with a trail for children. Dog friendly too. Reasonable charge on entry with membership options available. A great afternoon out.would recommend.

After NRM and Shildon it was a little disappointing, but we must remember it is run by a charity who are doing a fantastic job, but most of the work seemed incomplete. Many projects with seemingly none completed! The breath of fresh air was the gentleman who showed us the workings of a Deltic and his enthusiasm inspired us.

First time I have been here and was very impressed, highly recommend a bacon & egg sandwich from the cafe

I enjoyed our visit to Barrow Hill. There isn't a lot to see, but for the price it's well worth a visit if you are into trains.
Several locomotives to look at. Working turntable every hour. Cafe had a good selection of snacks and hot food.

We went here on the spur of the moment as we were in the area with nothing to do on that morning. It was great! We saw a demonstration of the turntable with a train operating in the round house. You can also see the stored trains out the back, and the original Halt. Nice little outing for an hour or so.

A must place to visit if you are a train geek. Lots of steam and diesel to see. The turntable is run every hour, there is plenty of information and lots for children. The cafe is good too with unpretentious food at low prices.

A very interesting visit. The only operating round house in the UK. Great variety of locos. Turntable demonstrated regularly. Deltic Preservation Society also here. A really interesting and great day

Superb, such a unique place to visit. A great selection of both steam and diesel engines. The volunteers were really friendly and had a wealth of knowledge and real passion for what they do. The cafe was really clean and the food was great. Looking forward to visiting again next year already 😊!
