We came for Sunday lunch and from the welcome, right up to when we left, the service was excellent. We had booked and arrived early and were seated straight away. The Land Lady immediately came over and saw we had a toddler and provided us with a high chair and dinner for our daughter 5 minutes later to keep her happy. The food was excellent and at a great price. Probably the best pub we've been to for a family meal in a long time.

Best steak and kidney pie with a real crust and chunky meat. Shared with Theakston on tap. A perfect Yorkshire dinner. Best ever. Homecoming for sure. Other dishes looked good too. Highly recommended

The best bit was a good, proper home made steak and kidney pie. Not very generous veg (one broccoli floret and about 6 small pieces of carrot in a very generic brown gravy with a bit of mushroom). Fish pie not very good... tasted like a bought in bag of fish (a lot of cubes of some sort of brown fish) and a thin sauce.
Staff friendly. Food came very quickly but we were then somewhat abandoned as we waited for either the dessert menu or to be asked if we wanted the bill.

Staying locally we thought we would try the Half Moon Inn as recommended..
My pie was exceptional , meaty and full of flavour, gravy one of the nicest I've had in a pie , chips were flavoursome and veg cooked well.
Service was great , friendly, speedy and professional , faultless..
The reason it's a 4 not a 5 is because I don't think a dog should be allowed in the eating area especially one that begs for food and if ignored sits there tapping your leg. Is a lovely old dog and I love dogs , have my own but do have areas dogs shouldn't be.
Thank you....

We were passing through Fellbeck in our motorhome, on our way to Grassington. Our good old sat nav took us on an old roman road to avoid a road closure.... it wasn't a road, it was a track, and as it was raining, it was muddy and wet. Our motorhome succumbed to the mud and we got stuck in a ditch. After getting no joy from our breakdown cover, no joy from a towing service, and being on hold to the police control room for over 30 minutes, I decided to phone the local pub. Colin (the landlord) was brilliant, he managed to find someone with a tractor and someone with a chain, and he came to us with Joe (the tractor man) and Adrian (the pub chef). With great care and attention (and in the dark might I add), they managed to tow us out of the ditch, and we went on our way. As it was now so late, we decided to head to the pub. Colin said we could sleep in our motorhome outside. We went and had a few drinks with Colin, Tracy and Adrian. Sadly Joe couldn't join us, as he was in his tractor and it was too far for him to go. We also decided to book a B&B room for the night. It was so cosy and warm, very comfortable and the breakfast was amazing. These people saved us and we cannot thank them enough. We have already booked to return for New Year celebrations, when we hope to get to sample the main meals as well.

They say that the AA are the fourth emergency service, but no, the Fellbeck community are the fourth emergency service, especially The Half Moon Inn!
