Training to Manchester Marathon this April which will be my first Marathon event!

My current shoes are trail shoes which i have been told are not shock absorbing enough for road running.

I also have a mild scoliosis, hypermobility syndrome and one leg slightly shorter than the other so i need to be careful.

So today I bit the bullet and went to an independently run small running and orthotics shop in Preston ( Preston runner) . The guy there was really great. I knew i was going to have to pay a fair sum for a descent shoe but the orthotics are £280 so i was quite worried about that . He did my gait analysis on the treadmill and said despite everything my gait was not too bad. He gave me a heel raiser for my shorter leg for free and said i may well not need an orthotic! He recommended a mens Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 for my wide feet with bunions ( I am a lady but had been told before this might be the solution) . I took my current runners ( bottom right) and he said it was very rare to see bunion holes worn into trainers and he had rarely seen it. Anyway I really value the guys honesty in not trying to sell me the orthotics. A visit that could have cost £410 only cost £130 for the running shoe. Might still get orthotics if i continue to have problems but we will see how we go. Anyway I have my new runners! Hopefully worth the investment as i plan to do more marathons and keep running after Manchester.

I cannot recommend Paul at Run Preston enough. His knowledge and experience was expansive when it came to gait analysis and fitting me in the perfect pair of runners to suit my needs. Paul doesn't charge for gait analysis when buying shoes so the whole experience was amazing value as my shoes cost exactly the same as they would have from Brooks online but I would have received no customer service.

I bought my NB Fresh Foam at Run Preston and they have been a success. Thanks to the time spent with me by Paul and his recommendations, I am enjoying very comfortable running shoes while preparing for Barcelona marathon.

In and out efficiently with ideal service for serious runners. I ended up paying £130 for a pair of Saucony's ( the black and white ones) and they're a superb shoe, great to run in and lace up better than my previous pair of Adidas Foamotions.

Great service, very knowledgeable. Got some Glycerine 20s a few weeks ago now all set up for some trail runs with a pair of Brooks Cascadia 16. Thank you, will be back again.

What a great place, called for some new trainers ( I am not a runner ) dealt with the young lady who spent time checking my Gait and me trying on different trainers until we found the perfect pair, very knowledgeable and nothing was to much trouble for her. Would highly recommend this place to either runners or people like me who spend all day on their feet working.

Ready for a new pair of shoes with a busy year of races ahead I visited Paul at Run Preston again. Always worth the visit as his knowledge is shared openly and always valuable. Whilst I was in the store he was advising customers on not only their footwear choices but their training and racing from Parkrun to marathons as well as helping a customer with plantar fasciitis!
Picked up a new pair of Brooks and left confident again that my new shoes will serve me well. I couldn’t recommend Paul more, thank you.

Never really a person to leave a review but in the whole 28 years of my life have I been refused to be able to return a item!!

Had the gait analysis which was carried out very professionally and would definitely recommend, Paul’s knowledge is second to none in that department! But when it comes to sales and after care I have never been spoken down to like that in my whole life and also never had the phone out down on me because I told him I am leaving a review! All I rang to say was is there any possibility I can return the shoes due to the fact I don’t really like them and they don’t suit me! I was told NO! I was initially in shock as I have never been refused to return an item in my life? Have you? I wouldn’t of argued the cause if I was explained this at the time of sale because you have been notified! I was thrown at me “I have bills to pay” “I have a business to run” don’t we all? Not just Paul at run lancashire has had an inflation rise!

I wanted to return the shoes and pay the £25 for gait analysis which is offered as separate service! I am running my first marathon for very special and good cause for charity” this was meant to be part of the build up but Paul has definitely ruined this for me! Have you ever been threatened by a shop owner?

I bought the shoes in a little bit of a rush as the shop was full!

PLEASE BE WARY BUYING OF THIS SHOP USE HIM FOR HIM KNOWLEDGE BUT DO NOT BUY SHOES FROM THEM!

I’m sure if you go in and don’t ask for your money back if your happy with your purchase Paul will be absolutely delightful with you but what a change in person!

More than anything I am left upset and disappointed! I will be making sure this make social media and please make sure in your reply like the said on the phone “YOUR GOING TO MAKE ME LOOK STUPID” remember facts only when arguing!

Explain your policies better and you might not have this issue in future!

Hope you actually take some pointer from thsi Paul and treat your customer who are paying you good money with a little more respect!
