WH Smith used to be so alive and a pleasure, unfortunately something is wrong here. Although well stocked in some areas (note pads) other areas are terrible (like books upstairs). Of course there is a post office there too. I guess the competition these days is the internet. And as for those auto self serve tills, fast yes, but trying to sell you add ons all the time. :(

Probably the best WHSmith in Essex. Has a Costa Coffee upstairs as well as a post office. The Costa I'd say is smaller than average but not minute. Great selection of stationery. The overall store is well lit with massive windows at the High Street end. Overall great shop.

This has to be the messiest worst managed store i have ever been in i would guess this will be the next company to go down no focus gaps everywhere not a sign of management on the floor with teenage staff struggling on the till. These staff were very helpful and caring but struggling to give any level of service due to the lack of senior staff they were doing very well under the circumstances.i went in to do the lottery and get a paper. I nearly left without paper and lottery as i couldnt find the daily mirror i was looking for. Here is one of the reasons why this company will fail. I know like most that whsmiths sell papers but they had papers everywhere stacks on the floor i could only find the sun and express in one area dumped on the floor. In another arwa essex chronice and the times?!! I was hunting for the newspaper display which i kind of expected them to be in view at front or with the magazines. They were actually tucked in the corner on the wall on the way out. This i haven't a problem with, but putting stacks all over the floor just confuses customers there is a sombre lack lustre atmoshere in the store again lack of leadership loads of jobs going on around store with staff plodding on filling the numerous gaps on display. However these never seem to be filled? The worst retailer ever.....

Files Pens pads are goo book wise I'll stick to the works as whsmith prices can be pricey. And not the most helpful staff also the post office is so slow every time I have been there and hardly anyone working there I understand that's not whsmith but it's a pain. Nice little cafe basic food and drink nothing you can't get in a small shop or paper shop. But good range of books pens folders good for coin stamp collectors as they offer many different thing's for them.

Went to check out the art supplies. The shop has a wide variety and exquisite ones too. Most are Artist quality with a matching price range ( slightly high). Found the turpentine I was looking for.

Bit of a jumble sometimes - but still sells your favourite magazines and papers. Average selection of books, but a vast collection of stationary
