The front desk staffs were nice. After waiting 2 hours to be seen. Only to be given ear drops without the doctor looking into my ear to see what was wrong and rushed me off. I asked questions and he responded that's it and asked me to leave because he was finished with me and was ready for the next patient. 2 days after I went to Princess Royal Hospital and was looked after and examined properly and was listened to. Now I understand why this hospital is called Maydie.

First of all, the hospital itself is horrendous as is but after a recent experience, I can truly stand by this statement wholeheartedly.

My mum has degenerative disc disease. She is under an incredible amount of pain and she received a call from pain management to tell her that she’ll receive an appointment next year. NEXT YEAR!? May as well give her a pat on the back and tell her go away!
Anyways, my mum stressed to the woman on the phone that she could not wait til next year for an appointment as she was under an incredible amount of pain. You’d expect some form of sympathy or maybe an attempt to solve the issue and have the time shifted a little closer due to the fact that her pain is crippling, right? Well what did they do? They paid no attention and hung up without a moments hesitation….

It has made her upset and has led her to feel worried as to what care she is going to receive for her back in future instances.

Honestly might want to consider getting new staff in or maybe teach them how to do their bloody job. Its disgusting how they have treated my mum and its not the first time either. A terrible hospital with terrible service towards patients. I advise anyone that has the option, go elsewhere. Otherwise, you’ll be waiting til the sun has turned cold to receive the care that you need.

Just got back from a & e with my 85 Yr old mum who fell over. Can't thank the staff enough, they were great, caring and efficient. We called 111 first and were given a time to arrive. It then took 2 hours including xray and thorough consultation with a lovely doctor.

I have been to the phlebotomy clinic twice in the space of 3 months for a fasting blood test. Not had a bad experience here and the staff are very friendly. I would advise people to ring the department and make an appointment - on both occasions I walked straight in without sitting in the waiting room. It appears from other reviews that taking a ticket and waiting is by far the longest way of getting your blood taken.

Absolut nightmare !

Came in twice this weekend for my Son .

Last night We arrived around 1-2 am at the hospital via Ambulance we came home around 8-9 am.

We sat all night in the A&e only saw the Nurse at the beginning , after a few hours waiting i ask the receptionist how long it will be to see a doctor she was so rude !!!

After getting a Response people are waiting for 8 h already and it can’t be so bad because i can see your Son running around!

These people need to work on their behaviour towards scared and worried Mom and Dads !!

And then we finally got to see a Doctor he was amazing very good Bedside manner’s he could teach the other staff how to talk and behaviour towards a mother or Father!!!

Big thank you to the Amazing Doctors and Nurses and the Ambulance Crew but the rest no words !!!

I have 2 experiences in this hospital. My son was born there when it was still May Day, and everything was outstanding, from the facilities to the attention we received from the nursing staff and doctors.
Second time, my wife was seriously ill and things did not go so well. Nursing staff was fantastic, but the doctors were a shambles. They really did not care much about the patient, a little arrogant and quite lazy, in my opinion. Made her suffer unnecessarily, and eventually was transferred for surgery to East Surrey, were more competent doctors were in charge. We made sure since then that we do not go to Croydon University Hospital, we don't even call an ambulance in case they decide to take us there as it is the closest to where we live, we use our car instead.

My sister was the victim of a hit and run on Friday - the police that waited with her were so lovely and helpful and then on our arrival at Mayday, we checked in promptly with lovely receptionists - the lady at the main receptionist was very welcoming and empathic even though we could see she was tired.

The waiting was awful - long and with litter on the floor, and from about 11pm until 6.40am, we were there waiting patiently as the back of my sister’s head was covered in blood.

What made a very exhausting night bearable, was Dr Nick Diamond, who was personable, professional, patient, spoke with empathy and was funny - such a credit to Mayday University Hospital and he made my sister feel reassured, and like the only patient he was treating. He has many years of experience we know, and he could of course show other staff just how easy it is to make a difference as not all the staff - especially the male receptionist who gave my sister the note from the hospital to show she had been to the hospital, was rude - huffing and puffing, was abrupt and spoke almost as if she had offended him - we were so shocked, especially after the sterling service of Dr Diamond and so my 5 stars are for Dr Diamond for his skill, empathy and excellent customer service. I am a Valuations Manager and have worked in sales for 23 years, so I know what good looks like and appreciate excellent customer service also.

Thank you again Dr Diamond, my sister and I were both very grateful - I know you need a break, but hopefully you’ll be at Mayday University Hospital for a while!🙌🏾🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I’ve had a LLETZ treatment done under general anaesthesia today. Been so stressed but thankfully everything went smoothly. Doctors and nurses were so nice, helpful and supportive. Made me very calm and comfortable. I feel extremely satisfied. Thank you!
