On the day the part ex experience and the test drive were all excellent as well as the guidance document on making payments and next steps between the deal being done and collecting my new car a week later. The only fault was the confirmation communication to assure me that my monies had been safely received, I don't have signal at work so I emailed to ask for confirmation and didn't get a reply but a text message was sent which I couldn't read until I left work for the day by which point this would have been too late to do anything if the monies had gone astray. I didn't receive anything in writing to confirm to me that my monies were with MJA.
On the day of collection everything went really well, smooth handover, new plates made for my car as I was transferring a personalised plate and all the information around doing so was really helpful. Having another drive with MJA before I took the car away was also excellent customer service. Follow up communication post sale had been great regarding my new car and checking I was happy with my vehicle etc.
There was a slight internal communication problem again because I had part exchanged and needed to post on my V5 once I had got this back from the DVLA, MJA held a deposit until this was safely with them as they, obviously, couldn't sell my vehicle on until they had this so I ensured that as soon as I had this documentation I posted this recorded delivery and it was signed for and the deposit refunded to me immediately but the V5 arriving and the refund happening wasn't communicated to our salesman who consequently chased me concerned where this documentation had got to.
Other than a couple of communication blips the whole process was very straightforward and the support with my personalised plate was very good. Many thanks for all your help and I really love my new car!
he assured me that the car was in immaculate condition inside and out and guaranteed me that I will be driving away with the car 100% after I go view the car!!! However I drove a 2 hour journey with a baby to buy a £20,000+ car which Matt was aware of before making his promise about his immaculate condition car. This was not the case when we arrived at the garage. He did not greet us as a sales man should do! He gave us the key n told us to have a look inside and out and then we can take it for a drive and he disappeared. Whilst checking the car we noticed a dent on the bumper which wasn’t on the original advert in Autotrader. Asked him about it n got told from him that it must have happened whilst moving the car. FAIR ENOUGH. I asked him to reduce the price a little so I can fix the damage myself even asked him to fix it and I’ll pay the full asking price. But straight said NO!!! He was such a RUDE, arrogant, and a RACIST individual. I have been buying cars for the last 20 odd years and have never experienced such unprofessionalism!!!
HE WAS PLAIN RACIST towards us. I don’t usually write reviews guys let alone one this long but Felt I needed to to let others know what to expect from this dealership, especially if ur brown skin Asian.
Thank you Alan .
Initial review:
Pretty good.
I dealt with Chris, and it was probably his communication via email that made the sale. I contacted many dealerships elsewhere about similar cars and they were often terrible at staying in touch, answering questions etc. Most insisted on trying to phone me repeatedly when I was in work, or wouldn't reply. It made a huge difference to be able to stay in touch and get answers promptly, particularly since I was travelling from Birmingham. In person, Chris was extremely personable and very knowledgeable. He was easy to buy from. He also agreed to show me the car at Guildford instead of Walton when that suited trains better, and even swapped his day off to do so.
Price: OK. I think they could have/should have come down more on it. Apparently the director refused to budge . I still have the feeling that they took advantage of me and overcharged me. That they would have given me a better deal if I'd been a guy, or brought someone with me. Essentially no negotiation on it, even though an almost identical car had just sold for less. The mats promised as an extra were the mats that are part of the car, which was a bit of a fudge and disappointing.
Car: was in very good condition. I think the history given to me was a bit unclear before I travelled down to see it though, which is unfortunate and somewhat misleading. Their valet service could be a bit better to reach OCD standards - needed a bit of a dusting!
Purchasing process: Done quite well. Paid via bank transfer, which was a bit of a worry but worked fine in the end. They sorted out tax on the day of collection which went through fine and V5C arrived within expected time frame.
Extended warranty is offered at time of purchase or up to 3 months after.
Miscellaneous: Offices could definitely do with some renovation and didn't get the tea and coffee and biscuits I received at some main dealers but was impressed by the second drive on collection where Chris made sure I was happy with how everything worked and made sure all the tech was set up etc before I headed out on the road.
Would I buy again? Maybe. But I wouldn't rush. They didn't make me a devoted customer. Not yet anyway.
