Shires Vets in Stone

Took our dog Toby to Shires on 29-07-22. We feel we were pressured into an expensive unnecessary operation over the phone which we now realise the vet at shires was not skilled enough to do and furthermore having had a second opinion today it is doubtful whether this operation was even necessary in the first place. Our dog now has a severe internal infection as a result and his stitches have completely disolved. After an emergency consultation today, our poor dog now has to go through three more operations and it will take weeks and weeks to heal. We can only hope at this stage our dog will heal. It is going to cost between £5000 to £6000 to put right and further trauma and upset to our poor dog. We even went to a check up early Saturday morning on 30-07-22 with Shires vets and the nurse failed to spot a patch of dead black infected skin and told us the wound 'was as expected'. We feel very guilty about what has happened to our dog. Our new vet has assured us this has not been caused by us but was caused on the operating table but we have let Toby down in our choice of vet and allowing him to cross Shires threshold in the first place.

One of my old dogs Beau was rushed into the Stone practice late Monday evening 22 august 2022 with gastric torsion! Charlie the vet on call was absolutely amazing and Emma the nurse, they saved his life performing emergency life saving operation there and then! I will always be thankful to them and other members of staff that came in to help! He’s recovering at home now with great speed! You are also providing excellent post operation care to us! You are absolutely magnificent people that saved my beloved old boy! The words ‘thank you’ doesn’t do it justice

Had to take one of our fur babies for a unscheduled check up because he was under the weather. Thankfully they were able to fit us in at the Stone practice later that day. Always met with a professional but friendly approach. I never feel they push anything on you and just give good advice regarding the welfare of your pet.

The staff here are very professional but also very caring. I was treated with great respect when having to make the hard decision to have my daughters cat euthanized. I would highly recommend this vets.
