Always genuine, always upfront, cordial despite being busy, and always fairly priced. I cannot speak to some of the previous poorer reviews regarding service and demeanour, however I've taken my bike here several times now and will continue to do so as well as recommend their services to others.

Despite always having a good and honest exchange, I tread through some of the reviews and decided perhaps I would give another local business a try. I won't mention any names, but I can tell you I was woefully overcharged and was not given a choice of services rendered but was rather told.

Dangerous service - made my bike worse!
I know nothing about bicycles but I do know that I dropped the bike off in the morning with two fully functioning brakes and a flat tire, and when I picked it up that afternoon and rode off, the brakes no longer worked. This could have been very dangerous if I had not realised that my brakes were no longer functioning and gone through a red light unable to stop. I have no idea what the staff did to my bike but can only assume that they didn't re-tighten something after replacing the flat tire.

I took the bike back and very politely explained that whatever they had done that day in the workshop had unfortunately deactivated my brakes. The staff begrudgingly fixed it within a minute or so. It was amazing how hostile they could be given that they seriously messed up on their side and could have caused an accident.

They also covered everything in WD40 oil, which is now on my clothes.

A terrible experience that needn't have been so. I've used Barton Bicycles twice in the past (on King Street) and will push my bike the extra distance to use them in the future, because the staff over there are genuinely friendly, down to earth people that seem to actually enjoy what they do, rather than taking their frustrations out on their customers. There's simply no need to be impatient and condescending with potential customers who know nothing about bicycles - why do you think they are in there? Their ignorance is your business - be glad of it.

Great for old bikes! I went to three other bike stores in Cambridge to try and get my old Raleigh fixed (loose cotter pin and wonky pedals). Every one else said it was too hard and/ or wanted to charge £30+ and replace multiple parts. Took it in here and they fixed on spot for $6 and gave advice on how to maintain it. Always great service.

I have had my bikes repaired there many times. They always did a good job at a reasonable price.

One partner promised us a child bike to hire the following day and when we returned for it, the other partner said he's not going to bother taking it out just for one bike. Disgraceful service.

Oil all over my bike, chain, up the frame, all over the peddles. Thick black oil, not nice quality bike oil. The owner is very rude, no customer service skills and sells tremendously overpriced bikes! The oil covered my trousers on the way home and they were good for only the bin.

He only accepts cash which is super inconvenient, wonder how much tax is paid from this place??

Clearly from the below reply, he has absolutely no manners and doesn’t appreciate any custom. Rather than put things right & apologise, he’d rather be sarcastic! Will be slating this place to everyone I know. Absolutely pit of a place..

Has since changed his reply to look all innocent. Sly dog.

Went in on Saturday as I had a problem with my bike wheel rubbing on frame and was out without tools. Helpful mechanic fixed in a few minutes at no charge. Bought a new bell which he fitted for me so was able to leave a tip. Great hire rates.
