Have some hairline cracks in my Specialized Stumpjumper Carbon, and even though bought elsewhere offered advice and assistance for warranty claim.
Also changed my bottom bracket on the spot on a busy Saturday morning.
Knowledgeable, friendly and just the kind of shopping experience you'd want to have from a local bike shop.
My experience with my Brompton's maintenance was very disappointing:
-A non-original brake cable used and “cut to size”. The cable is clearly too long (see pictures in comments). They must have noticed something was wrong, because cable ties were put along the rear cables joining gear and brake cables (no ties should be needed…)
-The brake cable is constantly being hit by the seat pole during the fold when I lower it down (see video in comments). I noticed while in store, but my comment was not given much attention and quickly dismissed as being kind of alright. After 1 day of having a compromised fold, I decided to inspect the issue, and easily found that the brake cable had been guided the wrong way on the frame (see photo in comments).
-A new seat pole sleeve was fitted on the bike. When the bike was given to me, the pole was full of glue, and I commented straight away: it was sticking during the fold and all ugly full of glue. It was as easy as a wipe down with alcohol to make it look proper, but no one did it.
-The bike was handed to me without lubrication on the bike fasteners, and it was totally noticeable for anyone who would know Bromptons, and who would try to fold/unfold it. I noticed the moment I tried. After I asked, it was done on the spot, but still, should've been done before.
From the reviews online, I think they must be very good with full sized bikes. But when it comes to Bromptons, or at least with mine, it’s a totally different matter. Most of the issues I found are mostly related with very specific Brompton things: compromised fold, cable guided wrong way, seat pole not up to scratch…
So, unfortunately, if your bike is a Brompton, this is not a shop I would recommend or use again myself.
I couldn’t rate them more highly. Thank you for a cracking service guys
This is an awesome bicycle shop! The staff are all very knowledgeable. Have lots of nice bikes and give great advise, on how to get best out of your bike! Also what upgrades are worth it. Even told me not waste my money on a rear shock that I wanted to purchase. I mean what shop does that. Then showed me how to upgrade my current rear shock to get a better result ,whilst saving me over £400.
It made such a difference to how the bike rode I went back and upgraded my forks too. Again great advice given.
Have a look at their instagram account you can see that they are all very good riders. Which is why You can trust what they are telling you.
Thanks to Toby and his team.
