What a great spot. Everything you need for relaxing, walking, swimming, cycling the quiet roads and lanes (although don't try the cycle trail to Ravensglass without a mountain bike! Sections of it are not suitable for anything else). Thanks too to Jane and all the staff on site for looking after us so well.

Fantastic campsite! Stumbled upon this place at 10pm after a bit of a nightmare on the pass on the motorbike. No one about when I arrived so found a gap and set up camp. What a view to wake up to! In the morning the staff were brilliant when I told them of the evening I'd had and showed me straight to the drying room to get my gear sorted. The bacon and egg butty was delicious and the coffee not bad either! Showers clean, powerful and warm. No 50p's needed!! Planning on riding the same route with friends in a few weeks and already looking forward to returning. Thank you! 😊

BOOKING and cancellation system is supper complicated!
Can't book one tent for multiple people have to book each pitch for each person so end up paying more or being told off for having more people than stated!
They say it's so they don't get stag and hen groups but what about bigger adventure families?
We were wanting 2 4 people tents and 1 2 person tent. But could only book 3 small tents!
If you are 1 or 2 people in a small 2 person (hiking) tent then this is for you but definitely not anyone else.
Ariel view on Google maps shows lots of big (4 person) tents with one large group so either everyone beat the system or it used to be better!

Excellent campsite, one of the best I have been to. Set in one of the most beautiful valleys in England the campsite itself, whilst sometimes busy, was very tranquil and relaxing.
The staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the local area. The facilities are excellent, great showers, washing up areas, freezer, drying room & a shop on site with all the small bits you need and kept very clean.
Would definitely recommend this place, worth booking in advance as it does get busy as do the very good local pubs.

Hats off to the enthusiastic, committed and hard working team at this very special place. With 50 years of Lakeland experience, this would have to be my favourite campsite. It's location is outstanding, with access to local facilities. The site is small and friendly and considerable thought has evidently gone into the design, layout and services offered to met the needs of the average camper. Access to hills is immediate. Less popular than some other locations makes it quieter. Note however that route finding and navigation can be difficult therefore, with less discernible paths available. Despite it's relative isolation the journey is well worth the effort.

Lovely well looked after campsite in beautiful Eskdale. Friendly staff onsite, spotless facilities. Couple of nice pubs in walking distance. A great base to explore the area.

Possibly the best campsite I've stayed at!

Setting: beautiful area, stunning views. One two of the three mornings we had glorious sunshine (yes, in October!) and the atmosphere was serene. Stones throw from two gorgeous pubs, and a short walk to a third. Lulled to sleep by the sound of the water gushing at the mill.

Facilities: spotless toilets and showers, nice and warm inside too. A washing up area inside too, with information room and somewhere to put your ice packs. Shop was incredibly well stocked with camping supplies and food stuffs. And they have coffee and tea! Life saver in the mornings. They also do warm pastries for breakfast too. No recycling but bins easy to access and lots of drinking water taps.

Staff: lovely friendly people working here, happy to give advice on best walks and very helpful with any questions we had.

Camping: we had lots of space, and could park next to our tent. There were benches around which made cooking easier, and it was a very quiet campsite.

Things to do: would recommend walking up the Hardknott Pass to the Roman fort. Steepest road in Britain apparently but if you take lots of snack breaks it's definitely worth it! The walks along the river are beautiful too, and there are waterfalls nearby too. Would recommend going to the pubs next to the campsite too, they have lots of local stuff, and the food was absolutely delicious.

Overall 10/10 will definitely come and stay again.
