Toby Carvery Caerphilly

As always Caerphilly Toby Carvery is a welcoming place to be, our server Angharad was friendly as always and asked us if we was enjoying our meal. Very quick and prompt with everything. She’s always running about making sure her customers & tables etc are cleaned.

Food was stunning as always, drinks machine etc always a bonus to get drinks when it’s convenient for you.

Chef also serving the meat was very friendly.

I would rate the service 10/10. Booking was easy through the website, tables are always clean when seated. We was seated very quickly even though we arrived 10 minutes before.

Food ok and good value for money but service terrible, seemingly like they just didn't care, unless you were a local. A young staff, spent more time standing around chatting to each other or looking at their phones than looking after the customers. First off we were shown to a table by the 'manager' with food all over the floor around it. They waitress almost begrudgingly swept it up, when asked. We then had to ask for our drinks, as we sat for ages waiting for them, and later the same for our dessert. The responses from the staff when questioned were just ridiculous, excuses rather than apologies. A very disappointing visit. I've had better service in a fast food restaurant. Employ proper staff, instead of students and service might improve. Only then will I consider a return.

Chose from vegetarian/vegan options. Food at servery was hot and tasty. Chef at counter advised me about ingredients used to make an informed choice about vegetarian (beef dripping roast potatoes). Lovely and clean, nothing was too much trouble.

Food and service good! bit hot inside which with a low ceiling and carvery on the go i can accept that temps do go up.
Air con or crack a few windows perhaps?
A minor gripe really, over all very nice.
I would definitely visit again.

First time for my daughter, grandson and myself to have a Christmas dinner,out of the home. Also the first time for us to visit the Toby at Caerphilly. What a experience, absolutely fantastic. From the moment we entered, we were made to feel so welcome, the staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. The lovely lady who served us, was perfect. The starter's meal, daughter and grandson ordered salmon and prawns, and I ordered soup, was delicious.
For the main meal, we all ordered differently, daughter ordered vegetarian, grandson ordered pork and myself lamb, more than enough served onto your plate, after that you served yourself whatever you wanted. Fantastic choice.
All the food was hot and absolutely delicious. For dessert we again all ordered differently, and once again all the meals were delicious.
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank every member of staff. It was the best Christmas day I have ever had. I can't praise the staff enough. A wonderful day

I've eaten here 3 times this month and on each occasion the staff were courteous, helpful and very friendly. Today, despite the restaurant being extremely busy (with some difficult customers from what I observed!), the staff remained calm and professional throughout, ensuring customers' needs were tended to promptly. Aliyah was extremely helpful in accommodating our needs in relation to finding a quiet seating area, and couldn't have been more helpful. And every time we have visited the restaurant, we have been served by Joshua, who has been friendly and engaging; nothing is too much trouble for him and he deals with all your requests quickly, in a professional yet cordial manner. The food is great and excellent value for money. We had the carvery, which was lovely (well done to the lady serving the meats as she did so calmly under what must have been stressful circumstances due to the huge amount of customers). Nice selection of deserts which were delicious and literally half the price of those at another local restaurant on Caerphilly mountain. Lovely place to have a meal, great food and wonderful staff. Well worth a visit.

First time I've been to this carvery let alone on Christmas day and I can't fault any of it.
The food was hot, plentiful and tasty. The waitress was attentive, polite and cleared the Crockery quickly without being over us all the time.
I really can't fault anything. It made the whole lunch perfect.

The manager Olly was obviously under stress, however he remained polite all the way through and his staff seem just like him excellent service. They ran out of some food but it didn't matter because of their attitude.
What a great team. Food was good too.
Made vegan sausages for us too without any judgement thanks guys!!
