Went up the the castle a couple of weeks ago, it's quite a steep walk up so bear that in mind. The castle is free entry, dogs are welcome but need to be kept on a lead. Beautiful views once inside the ruins and looking out over the estuary. Steps to go up and view parts of the castle and boards with information on the castle and its history. The three times that I have been up there its been just me and the dogs, very quiet and peaceful here. Definitely worth a visit if you like castles and beautiful views.

What a lovely walk. We parked on a side street. But if you drive to the front there is a car park which was equal distance to walk. A 10/20 minute walk from any of the parking up a hill. Well worth it.

Short walk up hill & worth it when at the Ruins. Great views of the surroundings and lots to see. You can walk up the medieval spiral staircase of two of the towers. Great fun and full of history. Great for kids to rome free. Peaceful place. Best to visit with good weather.

Fantastic place to visit, lots of history, your still able to climb the towers for a fantastic view, it's also dog friendly.
Free to enter so well worth the walk.

Lovely walks, interesting castle, clean beach (for a river estuary). No dogs allowed on the main part of the beach during summer months but plenty of other places to walk with them. Refreshments available from a kiosk, also sells chips etc. Free parking and castle.

Can't drive up to castle. Have to park in village and walk. It's a steepish walk on uneven paths but definitely worth it. The views of the bay and river Towy are stunning.

Extensive castle ruins with stunning views over the estuary. Steep walk uphill from the beach car park but the views are worth it.
