Otter Garden Centre, Ottery St Mary

Came here for lunch and a browse around the gifts and clothes section. I had the chicken curry - reasonably priced and very tasty. I bought a shirt and Mum bought a jumper from the wide range of items on offer. Plenty of gifts and extensive range of indoor and outdoor plants, garden tools, equipment, pots, water features, etc. Prices seemed comparable to most garden centres I’ve been to

A garden centre that covers most things. There restaurant is not so good been twice and the food has been cold.

It’s massive. Whatever tatt you need, you’ll find it here. Enormous range of Christmas baubles and bling. Just when you think you’ve reached the end, there’s more to add to your fear of being trapped in a word of consumerist doom.

I am not a lover of fish. Ottery is a rare exception for me. Light beer batter not a nuclear bunker fresh fish just the right amount of chips. The chicken I was told was moist well cooked and in a flavoursome honey sauce. Served hot. Alas the coffee is in mugs shame there is nothing more civilised than a cup. Cakes Apple Doughnut always a good sugar rush. The lemon slice not to my liking. £34 spent and a clear latest with a few nibbles grudgingly kept for the dogs.in hard times for catering standards maintained.

We stopped here on our way to a holiday in Cornwall to have lunch. This is not just a garden centre it also sells hobby craft materials, clothes and at this time of year (November) Christmas decorations, wrapping paper and trees. There is a good sized restaurant with a nice selection of hot meals available to order. Having ordered we sat down and are order arrived within about 10 minutes. The portions were generous and very good value for money. If we came this way again we would stop for another lunch.

Went to Otter St Mary yesterday for lunch. Got served by Sue. She was very pleasant and helpful and knowledgable about the food when I asked a few questions. Food was great. Staff always had a smile and were attentive. Would certainly recommend.

Could spend all day wandering around this place. So much to see. The Christmas Dec's are lovely. Sorry to not see Santa's in situe this year though! Restaurant serves good food so a full day, breakfast, lunch and tea with amazing cakes on offer is very tempting!! 😉.
