The room was spacious, bathroom not so much. You've got to be slim to sit on the toilet properly without touching the bath and wall next to you. Not sure why they couldn't just have it as a wet room like other locations then you'd have more space.

I went to close the curtains when I arrived to find a few small flies, a mosquito & some moths just relaxing on the white curtain. Managed to kill the mosquito so it couldn't eat me alive in my sleep, but the rest just kept flying about.

I probably could've called the front desk or gone to request another room but I was incredibly tired & didn't want to make a fuss at that time.

Walls were thin, since I arrived quite late and all I could hear once I sat down was snoring and car doors and engines from the car park. Therefore I couldn't get to sleep until about 2am.

I was woken up about 8.30am to the cleaners shouting to each other down the corridor outside my room. I could hear them knocking on doors and shouting housekeeping all the way down the corridor. They then knocked on mine before 9am and tried to come in, luckily I had the latch on the door.

By 9.30 they tried again, surely they knew I wasn't out my room yet as they hadn't moved on from my floor...

Reception staff were great, I would've mentioned it to them but I felt like I had to rush to wake up and leave so I completely forgot, I just checked out and left.

The location of this hotel is good & it's reasonably cheap so if you need a place to stop during a long drive it's okay. I wouldn't recommend it for any stays longer than one night.

The rooms are minute and need redecorating. The bathroom is also minute with enough space for only one person. The room facilities were adequate. The hotel is quite dated and looks like a 1950s built care home. However the service from the staff in the dining room and during the wedding reception was exceptional.

The room was decently comfortable for 1 or two nights. Despite the slightly dated exterior, the rooms are modern and clean. There was a wedding party taking place which led to some noise in the corridor, but otherwise a pleasant stay.

This was our second visit, and on our first visit, the room we were given was a small twin, and couldn't swing a cat in it. However, in this second visit, they gave a much larger twin, so my review will be based on this visit. Room was very good, spacious comfy beds. Staff very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was good, with a good variety of food. I would recommend this hotel.

We had been looking forward to our stay with high expectations having held our wedding reception there 42 years before. The hotel were starting a refurbishment programme about which were not forewarned, but it meant on the Saturday we arrived the sitting area and reception were taken over by a wedding reception, so difficult checking in despite a lovely receptionist trying her best and nowhere quite to sit and relax. Bed and mattress had seen better days so three poor nights sleep, plus a lack of replacement towels and tea and coffee.

Decent place for a meeting, and they do a nice breakfast buffet. Staff keep the place clean and tidy, and ample parking. It was nice and easy to get to from the motorway as well, which was very good. There's a ramp for wheelchair access, too. I didn't stay here, so I can't comment on the rooms. Parking is free, but make sure you input your reg at the desk. Otherwise, you can get a ticket.

Great place, lovely clean rooms and obviously recently renewed. Kettle and coffee machine provided in the room plus toiletries. Also fridge in the room. Lovely and warm. Breakfast buffet style and the friendly staff will help you however they can including making you poached eggs. Thankyou to jay and Ellen. Would highly recommend visiting if in this area ideal place. Please be aware location is not near amenities so be prepared

Review Updated. First impression on driving in was not overly impressive, appears very dated. This impression didn't get better on walking into the temporary reception, which also was dated. Renovations are going on, with pictures of how grand it'll look, but none of this is helpful to me as I look around the temporary dining room come reception area. The breakfast dining area, although only temporary whilst renovations are ongoing, was dingy and dark and not inviting. This manifested in a not very nice breakfast experience. That said, the food on offer was standard hotel fare and the choice was decent. The hotel bedroom is a mix up of various styles from decades past. The styling is odd, with mismatched furniture. Upon closer inspection my kettle was very dirty on the outside with marks, fingerprints etc. The carpet has seen better days and the wall was covered in marks and stains and most definitely in need of a fresh lick of paint. The two lights either side of the bed, one was loose and flapping and the other didn't even have a light bulb. Everything just looks like it should have been replaced long ago. The bathroom is small, but adequate but again showing signs of neglect with the board under the shower loose and a cracked sink. It needs a little TLC. A colleague staying in another room stated unpleasantly that he had skid marks in his toilet in his supposedly clean room on checking in! On a positive, the room was quiet and I slept very well on a very comfy mattress.

I have updated this review as today I received a £100 parking fine for staying in the hotel car park, despite registering my vehicle with reception upon checking in. I stayed for 5 nights. Whilst mistakes can and do happen, I am now left with the hassle of having the ticket cancelled. I hope I do not receive more? Karma for leaving a bad review perhaps? Holiday Inn, how does this happen? What with receiving a parking fine for my stay and the substandard rooms, I would not recommend staying at Holiday Inn until they improve things.
