We enjoyed our stay and the hotel is generally excellent with excellent facilities. There seemed to be a staff shortage meaning we did not have house keeping and when I asked for some clean towels they were not delivered at all. This is my only complaint really on what was a very nice stay otherwise it would have got 5 stars.

We were driving by and decided to stop and try the restaurant. My advice to anyone thinking of doing the same: keep driving. The food was absolutely vile. Possibly the worst food we've had. Fish and chips were watery and all the batter was soggy- the person who had them is actually wondering if they have food poisoning as they feel so sick. The kids pasta was overpoweringly garlicy and overcooked to the point where is difficult to get it on the fork. Steak and ale pie was like eating an old boot: tough, salty and tasteless. The sticky toffee pudding was nice but the kids school cake was like a house brick. We spent £88 and it was a real disappointment. But what's worst is we actually feel ill after going!

We have just returned from a 2 night stay here, couldn’t fault the hotel or staff. The location was a little further from Keswick than we thought (15 minutes drive)
We travelled with our 8 year old and dog and the staff were very accommodating. The pool area is excellent quality, restaurant was good although the bar prices are a little expensive but I suppose that is to be expected anywhere in the Lake District. Overall would definitely recommend as a dog friendly hotel.

The hotel is nice and comfortable. The reception lady was very nice at the checkin and also helped in answering all our questions. The hotel has a indoor swimming pool , jacuzzi and steam room. The reason I give it 3 stars and not more is because there was no fridge in our room . We were carrying medicines which had to be refrigerated , so it was a bit inconvenient going to the restaurant kitchen every time. Also they didnt have much of a variety for hot food for breakfast. All their options are very similar . A more international cuisine would have been nice.

The staff could not do enough for the guests they were all very polite and hard working. Our stay was very pleasant and enjoyable and made even more so by the helpfulness of the staff with their prompt and efficient service. All areas of the hotel were clean and welcoming. I will go again.

We stayed for 4 days in the family room. There are 1000s of issues with this place from smashed door locks (obvious forced entry, cause unknown), mouldy ceiling above the shower to worn out furniture. However, things that mattered to us most, such as bed quality, lots of space in the room, swimming pool and lovely food were all there and that's what made this holiday very enjoyable! This isn't 4* hotel but you can still have a 5* holiday if you concentrate on the positives (or have a horrible holidays if you don't).

We came here for a meal and were extremely disappointed. I ordered the steak which I asked for medium cooked and it was so well done and extremely dry. The cut of meat was terrible it was full of fat and gristle. The chips were uncooked and the salad was soggy. Paying 20 pounds you really would expect quality. My partner ordered the Cumberland sausage which again was over cooked and didn’t taste fresh. Given we are in the lakes you would expect quality meat! We came away feeling very disappointed after paying nearly 50 pounds for what we hoped would be a nice dining experience.

Magnificent location, with lots of rooms, lovely staff and with some really nice food. The catering staff were more than happy to assist with dietary requirements. We managed to pay just £55 for a night, an absolute bargain. Would defo stay again. The decor could do with a bit of an updating and and I don't believe they do a cooked breakfast option, which would be a lovely bonus. All in all, its worth a stay.
