Spent a night here in a deluxe room before our cruise. The hotel is in a wonderful location, the staff are extremely polite and attentive and the room immaculate with fantastic views.

However, having stayed and eaten in many 5 star hotels, I'm just not sure that I would choose to stay again here. It was so busy that I found it extremely claustrophobic in every area, apart from my room! Although the bed was wonderfully comfy I also had a terrible night's sleep due to a lot of noise from other guests at various times throughout the night.

Breakfast was delicious, although extremely expensive, as even if you only want a basic toast, coffee and juice you still have to pay the full price. There really should be a better pricing policy, even if it's a buffet price and full hot plus buffet price.

Dinner in the restaurant HarBar was only memorable due to the dessert being very bland and inedible and my main course tiny and I mean tiny. Fortunately we did not have to pay for dessert and I felt embarrassed in such a top hotel to be complaining over it. The views and set out of the restaurant are undoubtedly amazing.

On checkout it was disappointing to not be asked about the stay, or even if we'd slept well.

I've given 4 stars overall because it is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location with lovely staff. Somehow though it just didn't live up to my expectations, sad as I am to admit it. I'm sure if we'd not been in a hurry off to our cruise the next morning I would have taken the trouble to speak to someone, but I just didn't want to spoil my holiday by talking about negative points. I appreciate that this is probably the wrong thing to do. In the big picture of the world currently my issues are trivial, but it's only that when staying in and paying for a 5 star service it's hard not to be a bit critical.

Booked a group table for drinks and nibbles in the bar. The staff really looked after us and nothing was too much trouble! All our guests had a great time and the view overlooking the harbour is top notch. The cocktails are very good!

Fabulous 5 star hotel. We stayed here for our mini moon and all staff were very friendly. From the beginning we were treated well they really looked after us. We stayed with out 3 month baby and felt so comfortable. The rooms we to an immaculate standard and the food in both restaurant were plentiful and tasty. We can’t wait to book here again some time in the future.

To quote Tina: Simply the best, and we had a room on the least desirable level 2 SW side. Breakfast on level 6, superb; Reception, outstanding: Views, unbeatable over the marina (if you don't like boats go somewhere else): Location, impossible to beat. In short if your staying in Southampton why stay anywhere else. Thought the glass of wine in the Level 6 bar a touch expensive at 20 quid.

Went for afternoon tea at 3pm as an anniversary treat from my niece. This was the best afternoon tea my wife and I have ever had and we have had quite a few. The food was tasty, well presented and well worth the price. Service was excellent nothing too, nothing too much for the polite staff. Highly recommended.

We had a Sunday lunch menu for a birthday party and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The location is lovely with a panoramic view of Ocean Village Marina and the outside seating and Sunday chill DJ was a nice addition. The food was of a good standard, would have liked a few more menu options but reasonable prices.

Wonderful hotel! We had a balcony room overlooking the harbour. Huge bed, complimentary gin, and prompt room service. The harbar was expensive and filled with 21st birthday parties. But the atmosphere was energetic and positive. The spa was small but perfectly formed. I wasn't sure I liked the windows looking in from the street seeing us lay in our swimwear by the pool, and I didn't like the fact some guests had their phones in there. But I would certainly stay again in future! Thank you!

What a wonderful hotel experience. From start to finish, a lovely place to stay. Only tiny negative would be that the bathroom only has a really bright light which is not ideal if used first thing in the morning etc
