We’ve had great experiences at this hotel at each time we have visited. The hotel is set in a ravishing land surrounded by beautifully landscaped garden which is a delight to the eye. We found the staff were always welcoming and attentive. We had drinks at the bar overlooking the garden where the barman took time to listen to what our likes are and made mean cocktails each time. Food ordered were served to the outside courtyard promptly and was delicious. This place is one of our favourite places to go for afternoon teas or drinks with friends. Have met our expectations each time . Highly recommend.

Would give it 0 stars if i could! Unfortunately my experience here was the worst i have ever experienced. I did not stay , just dined in the restaurant. We booked a table of 9 for my Nan's 80th birthday, so, a big occasion we were really looking forward to.

The location is stunning and deserves much better. From the moment we arrived it took 30 minutes just to order drink and unfortunately none of the staff speak/understand English so it made it very difficult to ask/ order anything. From there on it went downhill, the starters arrived at different times and although they were tasty they did not reflect the price.

The majority of the mains arrived an hour after that, they were all wrong or missing something but by that point we couldn't be bothered to try and explain to the staff what was going on. 3 of the mains were still missing and arrived 20 minutes after the others. No explanation or apology and were all cold. The food was well below par to say the least, could have got better in a carvery.

We were so fed up by this point we asked to see the manager, the staff of course did not understand what we were asking and so we went to find them ourselves after a lengthy conversation all the manager could tell us is that they were really busy (they must have had 10 tables at any one time and 7/10 tables were also extremely unhappy with what they had received with 2 of them walking out without paying).

All in all, THE WORST experience i have ever had which is extremely disappointing given the beauty and potential of the place. Would not recommend under the current management.

A previous reviewer has commented on the stunning grounds and setting quite agree. The buildings are lovely and the whole place is well maintained and delightful. Could easily rate it 5 star, however, we were only there for one night so cannot comment on the bar or restaurant. What let it down was the staff, the two receptionists made no eye contact or showed the slightest interest in us as guests. We had to change rooms as the window would not open, a staff member Matt, came to help us and he is a credit to the hotel, but had only been there two or three days. He went out of his way to engage with us. In moving room we, unfortunately, had the experience of the reception once more. The staff member there was so intent on his screen that again he made no eye contact merely handing us a new key and advising us it was on the first floor still staring at his screen. There is definitely a training issue here maybe Matt can be promoted he showed real people skills.

Such a superb location. A really magical place. The food and drink were excellent. Hannah gets bonus points for her excellent knowledge of the history of the place. Service was good but could improve more with the standards : like presenting a bottle of wine but forgetting to open it and bring appropriate glasses. Highly recommended. We will go back again.

The location was lovely and the food in the restaurant was lovely. You could not fault Katie who was our waitress for the evening, she checked on us constantly to make sure we were OK. The general manager sorted a happy birthday pudding for my partner which was lovely. The bed was very uncomfortable and the room was at the back of the hotel, so in the early hours empty bottles were being disposed of which woke us. We did report this to Reception who apologised, but was not really interested. Would expect a little more as we paid good money. Many thanks Tracy Collins

I stayed here this week, whilst on a nearby Training Course.
The staff were very helpful, friendly and professional.
The room was large and well equipped, the bed being particularly comfortable and as the hotel is a former stately home, it is nice and quiet.
I only ate breakfast in the hotel, but this too was tasty and plentiful with various options.
There was good internet connection in my room.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely book here next time I am in the area.

Had a great stay here. Rooms were wonderful, the dinner superb and the breakfast was great too. All the staff were friendly and helpful, providing exceptional service. The rooms were very clean, spacious and bed was comfortable. We had a great 3-course set menu dinner, which was included with the room, as was breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.

You must stay here, this is one the the best ,cleanest, value that money hotels we have ever stayed in. Just come back from a one night stay ,room was spotless super comfy bed plenty of charm and features .Food was fresh full of flavour even the breakfast .Not to mention the hotel, most hotels rely on their look, location or history then its all down hill from their. But the Elvetham has it all .On top of this the staff were all outstanding every one of team we spoke to they had time to engage on either our needs or just our questions of the beautiful hotel. The evening waiter was a young polite knowledgeable young man ,local just few mins away but shown all the professional traits of person who had been working for many years .Great credit for management WOULD GIVE 7 star but only let me give 5 star Definitely coming back definitely recommend Thank you so much Elvetham a gem which has it all
