Best Western Atlantic Hotel

Had a call nearly 2 weeks ago to say our booking has been cancelled, they refused to book us into the other Best Western in Chelmsford and are not refunding still! Something very dodgy going on, different excuses every time I call. No replies to any emails I've sent chasing it. You can't just cancel and decide to keep people's money! Avoid!!!!

Shocking customer service from this hotel.
Made an error when booking and rather than assist in correcting it was very much computer says no….. stay in the premier in down the road much nicer/helpful staff

I booked a room in order to be with other family members for a funeral the next day. When I arrived at 9.30pm I was told the bar was shutting and should have been shut from 9pm but they had allowed it to stay open a bit longer for other family members. I have looked at the website again and found no mention of it neither could I find a phone number to ring and complain. The online form was basically a happy sheet with predefined comments.
I can understand the restaurant not taking bookings after nine but not the bar!
And there was no bottled water in the room and no indication as to whether the tap water was drinkable

Let's be fair, if you claim to be a 4 star you need to be better than the premier in 2 min away.... very disappointing stay as the facility and experience was not of a 4 star facility. The staff were very nice but don't turn up expecting a 4 star facility. At best it is a 2 star room and breakfast facility.

Highly doubt that this should be classified as a 4 star. First of all on arrival the room we were sent to was not cleaned. Imagine walking in to someone else’s mess. Then we moved. For our ENTIRE 2 days and 3 nights stay our rooms were not cleaned despite us even leaving a please clean my room sign outside. I was flying out after I checked out and had so many deliveries and packages that I had in my room, all I needed was to come back to a clean room. If I had that hoover I would have done it myself. On one of the days we left and the cleaning personnel was on our floor so how she decided to skip my room I will never know. Awful experience. Also their breakfast is not nice. Needs improvement. Far from a 4 star.

We needed to stay as it was my father's funeral. The reception staff passed on condolences and were very efficient at booking an extra room and an extra night for my family and I. The rooms were stylish, functional and very clean. Location was brilliant - a stone's throw from the railway station, the High Street and the local leisure centre.

Sigh. Stayed in an executive room following a stint of bad experiences in other hotels standards rooms during COVID. Really nice decor, very slick. All show. Windows are poorly insulated so it sounds as though the window is open - when on the ground floor ask for a room not directly next to the car park! Room walls very thin - can hear other guests conversations and them using their bathrooms.
Air circulation was clearly an after thought - with a ghastly air cooler/heater that is as loud as a truck’s engine! The window issue above means the room got cold quick. Bathroom was also cold as no radiator installed in there either.

Also no charging points around the bed. This is such a standard requirement in today’s world. Expected a lot more basics for an executive room.
2 stars rather than 1 just for style

We stayed to attend a wedding locally and were upset that the bar had to be attended by the night porter at 10.00 pm !
On the website the blurb said there was a bar . And the bar stays open until the last customer leaves usually .
The beer was not on at all !
I think the hotel was more interested in the economic migrants taking up half the rooms . So I would not recommend this hotel .
