I don't often write Google reviews, but in this case I had to. Myself and my friends were flying for the day and came across the Nags Head as a perfect location to eat in and land by. Having discussed our plans via a call, the landlord was extremely accommodating and gave us the all clear to land nearby.

Due to delays our end, we landed at 3:30pm, which was an hour after the kitchen closed for lunch. To our pleasant surprise, the chef and landlord were waiting for us and said that they had kept the kitchen open just for us, which was incredibly kind.

We are all very grateful for this, because had the kitchen been closed when we arrived... we would have missed out on the incredible lunch which we had. I have to admit, this is probably one of the best pub lunches I have enjoyed - I personally went for the chicken & Caesar salad and it was amazing.

Overall, I couldn't recommend the service, food and ambiance more highly and would thoroughly recommend this brilliant place to anyone looking for a great experience and meal.

Thank you very much again, we will be back again!

Disappointing, particularly for the price despite looking great from the reviews. I can’t give 2.5 stars so it’s luck to get 3.

Starters were poor (scallops not well cooked, pork pie with large amount of raw pastry), mains and desserts were nice - but expect more when paying £150 for the 2 of us (including drinks).

Overall service was a real let down with us being forgotten about on several occasions - I had to go to the bar at points including to pay as we were sat waiting 10 minutes “for the card machine”. There were also random drinks put on our bill so check - and there was no apology for this.

At this price expect more and won’t be coming back for a couple of years, I’d rather go to Hawkyns for better food and service.

We wanted a nice Sunday roast but it was such a disappointment... we waited very long for staff to take our order. The drinks were offered in dirty glasses. But the food was even worse.. Meat was chewy and tasteless, Yorkshire pudding was dry, not enough gravy.. Our food was also brought to another table in the first place and then just moved around. On top of everything else we were overcharged by £62 for somebody else's steaks. It took them good 10 minutes to sort out and still only about 50 pounds were subtracted from the bill. 3 stars only for the place looking so cute.. we will not be in a hurry to come back.

I think my dinner here might be one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Yes it's expensive, but you're paying for the quality of food, my pork belly that I had was perfectly cooked with a lovely crisp but not too hard skin, very glad I picked this! The profiterole after was a great dessert choice as well.

(Also shout out to the waitor who enquired about the butter because I was fascinated to learn how they made it so fluffy as I've never seen butter like that)

I took my parents when they were over from Canada. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was excellent. I had a chowder of scallops, smoked haddock, and mussels. Rest of the party had fish and chips, Caesar salad with chicken, and lamb koftas. All round praise for the food. Definitely would recommend. They have a lovely garden and a covered outdoor seating area with a fire.

Mmmmm, not sure how to rate this? First two words that come to mind are pretentious and overpriced.
For us there were more exciting things on the Starters than mains. One intersection twist was sourdough bread and " dripping" ( though that's not what it was called)
Staff ok and quite helpful. Make up your own minds, but won't be rushing to visit again.

My mum celebrated her 85 birthday here, the food was great and thank you to Eve who served some excellent ales and brought us our meals. You made my mum feel very special, thank you.

I have tried to get someone to contact me from the Nag's Head three times so far and nobody has had the courtesy to phone me back.  Also, Redcat's email "contactus@redcatpubscompany" doesn't work.
My husband and I are long time customers of the Bricklayers Arms in Flaunden which was acquired by RedCat earlier this year along with it's sister pub the Nag's Head.  When I decided to book a meal for some friends, my husband and myself before Xmas and found that the Bricklayers was booked, I decided to book the Nag's Headin Great Missenden.  Our booking was for 7.45pm on 23rd Dec.
We arrived on time and were seated fairly promptly.  Our orders were taken and the drinks and starters arrived in an appropriate time.  Only 3 of us had starters and everyone was happy with what they received.  However, the problem was that there was a wait of at least 3/4 of an hour from the time that our first course was cleared, for our 2nd course which arrived after 9pm.  When we enquired about the wait, we were told that there was a big party in the Teepee and that all the staff were serving their courses! Why is this an acceptable excuse?
When the food arrived my friend found that her potatoes were undercooked and her food was cold.  I had the pork belly which I found tough and over cooked.  My food was also cold (as if it had been sitting on the pass for a while).  When my friend complained, the manager took her plate away and refunded her money.  He also enquired whether everyone else's food was alright and I indicated that mine was tough and cold, however, he ignored me and nothing was done about it.
The bill for the food and drink without my friend's main course was still circa £240 so not an insignificant amount and I would have expected much better service.

I have phoned 3 times to talk to the manager and have been told that he will phone me back and the pub is still busy over Christmas.  However, I have not received a call.
