Stayed here over 3 nights with 7 people across 3 rooms as we needed to be near King George Hospital and were unfamiliar with the area (coming from Australia). My wife and I then stayed on for another 2 nights before the entire group found better value accommodation closer to KGH as we needed to stay quite a while to deal with a family issue.

As an IHG member, I booked directly 3 standard rooms expecting a double bed in each. Arriving on a Friday evening, we got a somewhat annoyed reception manager who simply said "my system says 3 twin rooms". Despite clearly seeing so many of us, he proceeded to only provide 1 key card per room.

4 of us from AU and 3 from Malaysia after a sudden death in our family and hopping on the next available flight, we were in no mood for an argument after 30+ hours of travel though honestly, could have done with some empathy.
In defence of the staff, all other staff throughout our stay were very friendly and professional.

Rooms were a good size and a quick walk from Newbury park and supermarkets / 24 hour McDonalds. They were kept daily without issues.

Beds were split and pretty uncomfortable beyond 1 night but given I stayed in 3 hotels all in this price range, it seems to be the norm for this money.

Daily breakfast was a good spread with sufficient variety though no changes. Kitchen staff were particularly friendly and accommodating which was very welcomed. There is also a large lobby area if you need to congregate in groups.

Overall, not a bad choice if you get their lower pricing which generally needs 1 week in advance. We found significant variation in their pricing, from 60 pounds to 90+. At 60 pounds, a good choice. At 90+ there is much better value elsewhere if you don't need to be in this specific area.

Had I known what I know now, although this one one of the few 'branded' hotels in the area, it doesn't quite have the hotel chain feel. Therefore, I'd go to one of the boutique hotels that offer more for less instead and in my case, where much closer to KGH.

This was the first time we had stayed at this hotel. The staff were very friendly, nice and helpful 👍. The room was good however it could have done with a painting. The curtains were shabby. But the most disappointing thing was the toilet kept getting blocked we feel the hotel needs to look into their system and hopefully get it sorted. Apart from that we had a very nice stay and will definitely stay there again.

I now never stay in any other hotel brand if I can help it. Our experience over the weekend was excellent. The staff, as always were so happy to help and were always willing to go out of their way to do so. Parking the car was easy and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was really good, despite not being able to self serve as in normal times, but we were at no point made to feel like we were taking too long, having too much or generally being a pain. Fantastic service and I look forward to staying again in the future.

I was pleasantly surprised with the room after reading work was taking place in the hotel. The hotel has the basic necessities. A comfortable bed, tv, sofa, desk and chair and a spacious clean shower. The staff were friendly and by day 3 the breakfast staff knew my breakfast order (because I’m boring and eat the same thing.) overall a great experience.

I loved this hotel so much that I have pre booked rooms for my sons wedding guests to stay. The staff, rooms, breakfast and hotel was amazing. Very clean and hygienic. COVID system in place. The breakfast has a variety of muffins and croissants or sausages and eggs which is always served perfectly. We stayed for 3 nights and each morning would wake up to a lovely full English always served by very accommodating staff. The room was very clean and sleep quality was excellent. They have a bar downstairs and serve food to the room which was also delicious. Well done Holiday Inn

Myself and partner stayed here whilst visiting friends, fantastic hotel, very clean and the staff went above and beyond to help us with anything we needed. Nothing was to much trouble! Hotel was nice and quiet and the room and beds were brilliant! Breakfast was standard, most of it was luke warm and served with plastic knifes and forks which was a bit of a pain however considering the pandemic it’s understandable. We are already planning another trip and will be staying again

Considering this is a budget hotel, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms - a little dated perhaps but a solid offering for the price - and the location is ideal as a base for onward London travel.

The room is immaculate. COVID training has paid off and I'd encourage the property to maintain this level of care post-pandemic.

I can't provide comment on the breakfast - I was a very late check-in (the reception dealt well with my 50% functioning self), and so slept right the way through on a very comfortable double bed!

Our stay was short but comfortable. We checked late but were welcomed by a friendly member of staff. Air conditioning was perfect for the sweltering summer evening. Bathroom was lovely and clean.

Only thing out of place was some stains on the carpet.
